Their fighting the entire f*** town.
They have been under attack since they got there. What would you have them do? leave? that would only embolden them more.
IMHO They have no choice but to stand and fight while still trying to rebuild. Thats their mission and they will do their best to acheive it.

It should have said.."terrorist come out of hiding, you have won the lottery but you have to be on your way to Allah to collect, please find the nearest American soldiers and let him shoot you, Salam and may the force be with you."

I apologize if I misunderstood, when you said they werent fighting terrorists I thought you were saying that the people attacking werent terrorists. You didnt add the word JUST in the first post.

I think they should have B-52's and A-10's circle that town all day and all night... and if anyone so much as lifts an RPG, drop a bomb on his head. Durring the rebuilding period, we have become i think too lenient and havent showed enough force...

It's good to see I MEF establishing who is in charge in Fallujah.

They need to waste some ex-baathists/or AQ and show the town they mean business...

Adopting a new tactic, the Marines have stopped giving information about how Marines have been killed or give any details about the latest battles, saying any information helps the enemy. Instead of explaining how Marines were killed, they say only "due to enemy action."

Marines are very smart. The Army should follow this suit.

Yeah they are!

It's a shame everytime someone on CNN or MSNBC or other news agencies report that 20 people were killed in a car bomb explosion or Mosque bombing they play into the hands of these "insurgents"

"Kill one, terrorize a million."

I sincerely hope the average US soldier over in Iraq has thought about this a bit more than you.... otherwise this war is going to last for the next 2 or 3 generations. Please refer to the thread called "Debate Terrorism with me" - you might learn something that will save american lives in the long run. Alternatively, continue to think like a testorone riddled teenager, but hope that the guys in charge have a clue (fortunately for the world, it appears that they do).

the opening salvo in a half-billion-dollar offensive to pacify the people with both guns and kindness.

Pacify ppl with guns? "be pacifists, or we kill you!"

The people coming from other countries to iraq to fight americans are terrorists, the iraqis are actually resistors....seems like everyone against us are called terrorist these days.

People fighting against an army that occupies a country are called "rebels", "resistance fighters" or "freedom fighters" but not "terrorists"!

Seems that the americans like rebels in the StarWars-Movies but do not realize they are the evil empire now....

Death Star coming to a war-torn dictatorship near you. Compliments, US Military.

"That's no UN! It's a space station!"

I agree with calling terrorists for what they are only when they fit that bill. Today's definition of a "terrorist" in the minds of most people, is one who targets and deliberately slaughters innocent civilians to intimidate or cause fear (terror). Those who target only the military in Iraq are insurgents. Those who deliberately attack the civilian populace are terrorists. I cannot recall hearing the US military or government itself ever mix the two up.

If the people who were attacking the US troops restricted their attacks to them that would debatable but they dont, the majority of deaths and attacks in Iraq now are against other Iraqis and civilians

Talos: that is true but there are different groups and some of the iraqi dead were concidered as traitors by some.

No... I personally believe that the majority of Iraqis just want peace and safety, and they realize that the US presence is needed for them to get that. They are not actively pro-US, but rather they realize they can't get what they want without them.....

I also believe that if people like Usa320 get their way, 95% of Iraqis will grow to hate the US very fast.

I guess those Germans and Japanese who resisted or killed US "invaders" after WWII were "freedom fighters" and rebels too then.

You know Iraq has no where to go but up and if these idiots would stop blaming everything under the sun that is american and help to rebuild maybe the country can recover like these two!!!!

Yeah, we americans really love waking up in the morning relishing what a great empire we have...

Now where's my stormtrooper helmet?

Everyone is to be lumped with the worst of the enemy, regardless of if the groups communicate or not?
