hello,

question, what is the safest place to store ammuntion 7.62x59 or 5.56x45mm in case of a fire

aka if a box of 200(+)rnd gets exposed to flame what happens do bullets, do they have killing capacity once they cook off

also, if they are stored in safe,http://www.made-in-china.com/showdbimage/2ex1ku00HlnJjGxETQKXMIC/Fireproof-Safe-EA1132-.jpg once ignited can they blow up a safe, assuming small safe.

anyway any clue would be appreciated

The safe will do the job but is far more expensive than what you need.

A standard metal military ammo can from pretty much any nation (as long as it is in good shape) will do the job just fine. MUCH cheaper too.

Bullets that cook off are harmless unless they are in the barrel. 1,000 - 1 odds that they would even dent the inside of the safe. An ammo can would bulge out. Besides, if there is a big enough fire to set off the munitions, you have bigger problems at the time.

Yeah, don't worry about storing your ammo.

I would be more worried about moisture for long term storage than fire. Ammo cans or those waterproof plastic ammo cans Cabella's ships their bulk ammo in are perfect.

Same thing with smokeless powder if you reload.

IF, however, you store primers and black powder, store it SAFELY. These are dangerous.

But ammo...buy a cheap shelf, box 'em up in your std .50 or 7.62 cans loose or in mags and forget about 'em.
