fore grip is a little over whealming. other than that, great piece, i like how the upper is a different color, makes it look like a drop in.

06-12-2007, 12:10 AM
Thanks. The upper was painted black to have the 'dropped in' effect indeed. As for the vertical grip, it's a bit large, but I find it comfortable for me to wield as it fits my hand very well. The fact that it also doubles as a impromptu bipod which is a plus for me, haha.

Kilo-good job on your custom CQB-R. I have one suggestion though, I think you should put the front M203 mount on that little piece of barrel right in front of your sight and not on your flashider... Forget it, I see that the M203 launcher is longer.

Thanks. As you pointed it out, the M203 is slightly longer as it's the standard SOPMOD length for M4A1 carbines, which is why the mount is on the flash suppressor.

I have a question for those who use GR16 SOPMOD stocks.

Is it possible to fit some kinf of battery in the tube?

I guess there are no batteries allready made, but by crafting one maybe?

Just bought me 2nd Armalite:

CA M15A4 Carbine...

But I have searched and searched for an answer that no one has .

I want to know if the Systema 120 Gearbox will fit in the CA body. I have heard that older models needed mods done to do so.

I have the 2007 version CA and was told that they made adjustments so that the systema gear box will fit.

Anyone know of someone that has done this with body mods to the gun.

That was my only issue when i bought a CA M15. Is whether anything is compatable. Barrels, forgrips, Stocks, Recievers, mechboxes everything that would fit on a TM.

I love this gun, but need to know if i should just make my own Gearbox up or order the Systema 120...

This gun is so solid and tough. I have another M4 with asystema outter body and fully upgraded inside and out... But i think this CA is going to be my #1 once i am done with it.

What are some of the parts that are the now thing... I havnt had to work on a gearbox in a while.

Actually, I can't afford nice real steel accesories like Surefires, Wilcox mounts (Cough 2X-KUNEHO you know who you are too! My M4 (not CQBR length barrel) with optics weighed a little more than the old AR-15 dissipater I had. Guess it must be the gearbox and random tidbits that add up the weight.

Hey fellas tell me one thing. When a RAS is installed on an M4, is the level of the upper rail supposed to be on the exact same level as the flat top rail on the receiver, or a hint lower?

Crusader^
07-28-2007, 02:57 AM
AFAIK, with a "RealSteel" M4 you will have them on the same level. However this is not the case with some airsoft replicas like Classic Army. G&P exterior parts are of great quality and therefore have the top rail and RAS on the same level.
Not sure of others...

Kartoon
07-28-2007, 03:08 AM
Mmkay, I own a CA and they certainly are not on the same level. The RAS is some 2 mm. lower than the flat top. And these mofos don't even have the hole for the gas tube in the front end of the receiver. What bs..
Anyway thanks for the info.

Just finished this the other night. Took a lot of ideas from the Noveske Leonidas, so it's not 100% accurate, but close enough for me. Removed a little over 7.5" from an ICS M16A3 barrel and then created a doughnut spacer to reinforce the weak ICS barrel and center the barrel in the RIS. The spacer is practically invisible and you can only see a little of it when looking directly down the muzzle.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v634/nextmayor/Weapons/Leonidas-1.jpg

Still not happy with the riser mount and scope rings. I used what I had laying around so I'm not out any money, but I need to work on those 2 items. Just saw that Bomber came out with a replica of the LaRue SPR Mount that I've got my eye on, but not sure if it's tall enough to clear my rear BUIS. In the end, I just want the scope to be tall enough to clear the rear BUIS and be easily removable (QD or throw lever).

Other than that, I'd like a Crane stock, but I'm going to wait on that item. More than likely, I'm going to pick up another ICS full stock M4 RIS and add the Crane stock to that. Then I'll machine down that barrel to 10.5" for a CQBR look. When done, I'd then be able to have a long barrel / full stock rifle down to a short barrel / Crane stock weapon and everything inbetween. FYI, I've already got 2 uppers for my ICS, just need another full weapon for the short barrel upper and Crane stock lower.

Nice long range AR-15 Amon. Nowadays, it's pretty rare to see an 18", 20", etc. Armalite/M4. Good job. Way to be different. I am one of the M4/AR-15 r@pists... p-)

Looks like a 24".

Does that cheekpad come with a shotshell holder? Or does it just hold rifle rounds? I've been eyeballing one on eBay recently, but I want it to hold 12 gauge rounds instead.

That's just freaking awesome.

Thanks. Wear will set in with time and use..but you can accelerate the 'effect' with rubbing alcohol and acetone.

Mmkay, I own a CA and they certainly are not on the same level. The RAS is some 2 mm. lower than the flat top. And these mofos don't even have the hole for the gas tube in the front end of the receiver. What bs..
Anyway thanks for the info.

That's just CA. They can't seem to figure out that whole "math" thing.

I posted a pic of this gun already on here, but it wasn't quite right I didn't have the proper stock or the right optics. Now it's complete and I am reposting it at the request of someone on here.

I was going for an imitation of a real steel rifle, this is my result...
At one point it was a classic army m15a4 ris, but the only thing that remains original is the metal body and the outer barrel. Even the charging handle is aftermarket. This is the newest addition to my family, I will post a few more pics of the rest soon.

The one I was going for is the first picture of a real steel found on the noveske site.

The second pic is mine, of course.

All tan parts were painted with krylon khaki (#4291). The scope is a BARSKA (http://www.barska.com/AC10770.htm) that I got from HERE (http://www.opticsplanet.net/barska-1-5-4-5x20-ir-tactical-riflescope-ac10770.html) for $100.00 w/free shipping.

Looks like a Bender & Schmidt short dot.

I want the S&B Short dot that's on the real one, but couldn't justify the $2000.00 (http://www.diamondbacktactical.com/Schmidt-and-Bender---Short-Dot-Scope-P1078C118.aspx) price tag. Hispeed1 recommended the barska and the rest is history. ;-)

The barska is rock solid too. It zooms out to 4.5x and at the lowest setting I could actually use it indoors with both eyes open.

G'box is all systema except for one part. From the gears, bushings, piston, nozzle, tappet, trigger, etc., etc., down to the box itself. I even used the systema grease. :-P

Otherwise the kit list is:

PDI 170 spring
Gaurder hopup chamber
Prometheus wiring (the entire electical system, save the batteries)
Prometheus soft hopup rubber
Prometheus tightbore inner barrel
Systema magnum motor (bit overkill but works a treat)
G&P 9.6 2200mah batteries

Believe it or not, despite the fact that I love this aeg and so far it's been flawless, I am not a big fan of systema, too many quality problems.

I like the sixteen, everything on it looks perfect (minus the scar grips on both). I am not a fan of theose vertical grips, I have big hands and they are still too big to me. Each his own though. The cqbr would be bada$$ with an M900.

GorkoSan

Tnx... I took the GripPods because they offer the bipod within the grip. I was looking for the Tango Down ACB-02, but it's a but out of my league, so I went for the GipPods. Besides, they seem to fit in my hands almost prefectly.

The SAM-R now has a PAQ4C unit mounted on it. The next CQBR will have the M900 and the EOTech +PAQ2 on it.

Cheers!

What's that front kit on your gun? It doesn't look like a SIR but I don't know other pieces that offer that SWAN sleeve- style approach: the rail to cover the whole length of the receiver and front.

GorkoSan
10-30-2007, 04:26 PM
Hi,

The top rail is the CA's replica of the Atlantic Research Marketing Systems (ARMS) #38 SPR MOD Sleeve. Well, of it's shortened, M4 length version. Since the CQBR is my main AEG it's used every weekend extensively I thaught, the upper rail for additional strength could not harm, besides it looks good.

Kartoon

Thanks for the info..
umm...
Do you have a CA- RIS on it too then? any compatibility problems with other manufacturers that you know of?

GorkoSan
10-31-2007, 08:33 AM
Well all the hardware regarding RIS come from CA, so no incompatibility problems there. However, the falt top upper reciever picatinny rail isn't up to exact measures of the Picatinny standard. The ARMS SPR replica rail however seems to be. I don't know if this is a general problem or just of a certain series. The Star QD Throw Lever Aimpoint mount is crap, bad materials used and it does not fit perfectly the flat top nor the SPR rail. The cheaper chinese products seem to be a more decent copies of real deal stuff.

Hey Sand Man,

Nope, no modifiactions required. Why do you ask? I've even managed to install one of these onto a previous version of CA-s M15A4 RIS which was not 100% leveled (...the RIS was not leveled with the Flattop upper), it was a tight fit, but it did fit.

Plus if you are looking to be accurate with it...they are made to go on the top. A lot of SF dudes put it on the side but thats because lots of times SF is retarded and will do things differently just for the sake of doing it differently...not neccasarily because its the right thing...manufacturer says to put it on the top and top only. Just a suggestion for accuracy.

Just to throw out a random question which suddenly popped into my head:oops:, & which I've also put in the airsoft kit thread, for those out there who use short armalite 20 round mags (SPR, Noveske Diplomat, etc) what pouches/rigs do you use with these, assuming that you don't use the standard 30 round mag pouches.

Took some new pics tonight...

http://www.pakieser.com/airsoft/guns/M16/XM607_800.JPG

This early "Colt Commando" was a labor of love. The body is G&P and the barrel is from King Arms. Note the correct front pivot pin (custom made) and the real-steel slipring. I also eliminated the bayonet lug and front sling swivel mount. I am still looking for a couple of little things to make it as accurate as possible, but overall I am really loving this gun.

http://www.pakieser.com/airsoft/guns/M16/airsoftdissy_800.jpg

My Marui-based AR15 went kaflooie so I decided to transplant all of the external accessories onto an A&K M4 I got for $60. So far it's running like a champ.

http://www.pakieser.com/airsoft/guns/M16/shorty_800.JPG

My indoor/CQB gun...stock with a shortened barrel, Noveske KX3, G&P SOCOM stock, M500 taclight and a Gen 1 EoTech. The scope mount is from Rock River Arms.

http://www.pakieser.com/airsoft/guns/M16/CASV_600.jpg

I bought a Marui M733 for use as a KISS backup gun, but I can't resist the temptation to keep attaching things to it.

Does anybody have detailed pictures of the L119A1 with an L17A1 underslung?
I'm trying to sort out a list of parts that I'd need to piece together such a mount on the AG36 so I could put it together properly.
http://www.rm45.com/l119/C8andAG36.jpg
So far I've gathered that I'll get Smokey's or STAR's AG36 to start, then looks like I'll need to cut an RIS to get the right fittings for it...

It's pretty hard to get good detailed photos of the L119A1, the one's I've found no doubt you'll have too if you've got access to google. & I can't seem to actually post a picture at the mo'

The other airsoft L119A1's with UGL I've heard of have been as you suggest have been cut & shut jobs with a AG36 acting as donor.

The Smokey AG36 is RIS but the L119A1 UGL is so far as I'm aware (please correct me if I'm wrong, I'd like to know!) clamped on rather than attached via RIS, & what with Lerch being Lerch p-) he'd want to get it spot on, in which case the STAR AG36 seems the way to go, note the L119A1 also has the grenade sight attached, which the smokey lacks.

Yeah, from what I can tell from the pictures the AG36 used on the L119A1 (which is designated as L17A1) is attached the same order as a regular M203 except that it doesn't attach to the barrel forward of the foresight. I'm thinking about buying a beater M203 and cutting the mount off...'recycling' it if you will ;)

I just got this done tonight. It's a prototype I have been working on for a couple of years (on again, off again).

http://www.pakieser.com/airsoft/guns/Colt9mm/Tac-9_1.jpg

http://www.pakieser.com/airsoft/guns/Colt9mm/Tac-9_2.JPG

This particular gun was inspired by the 9mm Colt subguns made by Total Silence and similar "tactical" Colt 9mm conversions. Modifications are:

Cut-down barrel
Cut-down front sight
Receiver modified by removing brass deflector and forward assist
Warhead 9mm magazine conversion
Real steel brass deflector
Cut-down dust cover

I built the upper receiver separately and then mated it to the lower of an A&K M4 with a crane stock.

All things considered, it turned out pretty well, but I am not too fond of the gap between the upper and lower. I think I sanded that out a little too much. My test reciever also has a broken tab, which could be part of the problem.

Like I said, this is a prototype that I did basically to find out how hard this conversion would be. I am thinking of doing this to as a complete gun with a little bit more care, possibly even trying it with a metal body.

Lerch
12-13-2007, 02:54 AM
Do the real steel 9mm receivers actually have a cut-down port cover? Excellent gun nonetheless and definately a one of a king piece :D

Look for "escort" on youtube. With those you can use high pressure air which is not tempurature sensative because it doesn't have to change a from a liquid to a gas. Most paintball fields carry it.

Even though you're not going to need the Ka-bar in an airsoft skirmish (hopefully, LOL) it's basically what you're comfortable with. Me personally, if I was to go out, I would have no less than 3 blades. Both blades being accessible for each hand. I.E one on the belt and one on the opposite suspender. Then the 3rd or 4th blade tucked away for safety..or 6th or 7th..lol.

Maybe you can even hang it sideways underneath your butt pack. Like have the actual butt pack secured over top of the sheath for the extra security that it won't fall off. Make sure the handle is facing your strong hand too. :P In that position it's perfect for a forward and reversed grip of the knife.

Hopefully I gave you a few new idea's. If not, I had fun anyways. :D

Gorko, nice pics, but before you can say that your CA M15 is a MK 18 Mod 0, it needs accesories to make it so, you need to take off that ARMS style rail sleeve and keep the RIS on it, then add the optics and accesories to it that are common to them and they can be replicas: Surefire M951, Insight M3X, Wilcox mount, Knights Armament forehand grip, QD supressor & rail covers, EOTech 551 or 552, CQD real sling hook, CQD/Blackhawk sling, PEQ-2, PAQ-4C, M4A1 handgrip. 10.3 or 10.5" barrel.

GorkoSan
02-14-2008, 02:09 PM
You are correct, it should only say CQBR, since Mk18 is a detailed and specified version as compared to the termin CQBR, which only stands for 10.4" barreled version of a M4 carbine in the US Armed Forces.

Even though the Mk18 sopecification has been extended to include a whole lot of other optics, sights and other accessories since COTS parts are frequently used, since the troops "modify" the setups to their needs, quite often with their own money. Or so the rumor has it anyway.

But thank you for reminding me that the Mk18 in the description was totally uncalled for.

As for the chosen parts for this particular setup, I've used them specifically in order to create a durable, main skirmishing AEG, with external as well as internal modifications, which were all extensive and numerous to say the least.

Anyway, tnx Hispeed1 for the heads up, apreciate it. I was a bit carried away in my "I know it all" mode.

Finally finished my AR-15 7.5" SBR. The first pic is the basic set-up. It's pretty versatile, I was able to come up with 3 other variants by just attaching accesories to the barrel.

Hey guys,

I wanted to post this in the 'Armalite Whore Thread,' but I was worried my post would not have gotten seen.

My Echo1 M4 RIS was my first gun and I've had it for about a year so far. It has served me great, but I think it is time to upgrade, as its life is begining to become weary.

I've been looking into all the TM's and CA's, but I wanted others' outlook since most of my friends don't like M16 family weapons. They all agree that these companies are good, but again, I wanted others' point of view.

If anyone has any advice on M4's please le me know. I am looking to spend between $200 and $300, so if anyone knows of any good ones, please let me know.

Well, it's you buying the gun, not your friends.

Though i'd buy a Classic Army or G&P M16 or M4 model. In my opinion, they make the most reliable Armalites in the industry.

Steelersfan413
03-02-2008, 10:35 PM
No, I know its me buying it but they were useless in giving feedback from someone I know since they don't own an Armalite.

But thanks for the insight.

CA is very reliable and works well out of the box. And although you shouldn't fix something that isn't broken it will withstand a stronger spring without other upgrade parts.
I've always been suspicious of G&P armalites. Ive only recently learned that there's no need to, they shoot very nice and all you might have to do is change the hop-up rubber (e.g to a marui)..

G&P is more compatible with real steel and actually even replica parts so you might want to go with G&P if you're looking into modding it.

well i was strongly considering the G&G Full Metal GR-16 CQB R Ver. 3 (http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.php?cPath=139_24_107&products_id=2714) from ASGI, but then my friend got a KWA G36, and kind of turned me onto the KWA Full Metal M4 RIS (http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.php?cPath=139_24_202&products_id=2887), also from AGI. I don't know much of KWA's reputation with AEG's, although my friend's G36 is a superb gun and I loved using it. I do feel awkward however spending as much as I am on it. Any suggestions?

Kartoon
03-13-2008, 03:27 AM
Very hard to say as I have no experience on KWA AEG's. A G&P or a CA one is cheaper and guaranteed quality with nearly(for CA, 95%) 100 % compatibility with aftermarket parts is all.

How do you guys deal with the glare from light that's coming from the back when using your EOTechs?

Vaszi bacsi
04-04-2008, 06:30 PM
Well, that is a good qustion. A guy i play with, he is using a real Eothech and when he gets in the darkness he is switching to NVG mode (insane amount of cash...) but i can't get technical cause i am not fully aware of the subject.

But then i guess you must be dealing with very experienced players if they ever notice the little light projected from the Eotech to your face.

If no one replies to this, I'm going to start a new thread about this but I'm looking for a new Armalite rifle.

How good are Classic Army, G&G, G&P, TSD, and anything else anyone would recomend?

Kartoon
04-06-2008, 10:36 AM
For that you most certainly wouldnt have to create a new thread, since it's been discussed over a dozen times.
But here's an easy one, go for G&P. CA is also a reliable pick but G&P is more compatible with after market parts.

And what about TSD? I really like one of their M4's and both 416's.

MrBlah-I'd like to suggest a magnified scope with scope rings, that ACOG looks a little high and also maybe a TM AK-Beita mag-that AK mag looks long and looks like it would be hard if you were to fire ****e with a bipod.

lol..i don't know what I built, its a frankenmonsterthing. I'm quite happy with the acog, because the magpul prs has adjustable cheek weld, so I dont have a problem with the acog. I do have a problem with the mag and bipod, I may pick up a ak beita mag, or just drop the bipod.

I do too, especially how my d-link sling attaches to the underside of the stock so it doesnt get in the way while shouldering unlike the LE stock it had before. Its also very comfy and well built.

Anyone have any pictures of their gun with the G&P 416 Fixed stock? I'm looking at buying one, not sure how it all looks put together.
Also- if anyone knows where I can buy a G&P VN (slickside) metal receiver stateside, I'd be appreciative.

If you don't mind waiting for a couple of weeks you can get one through http://www.airsoftnw.com/ John is a good dude to work with. He has continualy brought things in for me that are not on his site and at lower prices than found on other stateside sites.

For instance I picked up the new G&P laser/light PEQ2 from him for $40 cheaper than airsoft GI and evike were both offering them for.

Now, to keep this on topic.... please note, this replica has made it through a couple of different hands before landing in mine. So some of you may have seen it on other sites over the past couple of years.
