Been awhile since I've made a post, so...

For all you lovers of the M16-series, be they carbine, SMG, or full-fat rifle...
For all those who bow down to the altar of Armalite...

The original:

http://www.cmdr-fire.co.uk/images/airsofting/m16vn_1.jpg

Some more modern looks ...

M16A3 SPR configuration w/ KAC free-float RAS, bipod, handgrip, custom trigger guard...

http://www.cmdr-fire.co.uk/images/qdig-files/converted-images/airsofting/med_m16_spr.jpg

http://www.cmdr-fire.co.uk/images/qdig-files/converted-images/airsofting/med_m16_spr_2.jpg

A funky-looking M4... ACOG NSN thing, KAC M5 short RAS, M203A1 launcher, and silencer.

http://www.cmdr-fire.co.uk/images/qdig-files/converted-images/airsofting/thm150_m4_modified.jpg

And finally... my Wall o' M16:

Enough from me, for now! Post your M16, M4, SR, and general Armalite pics! Go, go!

I don't have any red dots on my rifles p-) I have a couple of ACOGs, one for the M4 and one for the M15 but I took 'em off for easier mounting on the wall, space was a little tight :)

Good spot on the third gun, it is a TM M16A2 that belongs to a friend of mine... since he never uses it, I think I'll buy it off him cheap and put a metal M16A2 reciever and a new barrel and stuff on it. The gun itself is pretty good for an entry-level airsoft gun, reliable internals, reasonable accuracy though there is a problem with barrel wobble after awhile; I've heard that they've fixed this on their newer guns though. It's a good buy, and since pretty much everything is compatible with it, you can go ahead and upgrade it as you want to almost anything you want in the future.

I can only use 1 while playing... but 1 is for Vietnam kit, 1 is for modern USMC kit, 1 is for CQB, 1 is for sniping, and 1 belongs to a friend... so... :)

Plus, I think Armalites look good. Really good. And they look especially good up on my wall like that p-)

Some folks like to collect stuff. I used to collect airsoft guns and firearms, and now I really just want one or two good rifles, a shotgun, etc. Nothing big. You can really only use one at a time unless you're rambo and have incredible coordination.

Of if you find a rare gun, you gotta snap it up at a good price, and sell it for alot down the road if all works out. An "investment" versus a cost.

I can't decide, keep the PEQ on the gun, or take it off.

I'm also debating getting an offset mount for the G2 and mounting it on the side... just don't know which one to get.

ust relised I'm missing the right side of the selector switch, need to super glue it in.

TacoDelRio

I'd say if you don't use a battery in the PEQ-2, get rid of it! :)

Less is more, especially when it doesn't do anything.

07-24-2006, 11:25 AM
I like it very much. Have to say that best airsoft rifle I have ever used. It took me some time to get used to not firing when mag is empty, but everyting is going smooth now :) Only problem was that hop-up needed little fixing had to change the hop-up bucking

This is nowhere close to a Systema, but...
Finally got it to get it to fire at 350 fps with a KM 100M spring, Systema oiless bushings, and new shims.

Both suppressors work extremely well with the higher FPS, as higher FPS = louder report, and the suppressor I made dampen them quite well.

Guys, some absolutely beautiful Armalites thus far...

masterdelta, I'm digging the EOTECH but unless you need the PEQ2, don't keep it on... looks more "clean" with it off ;-)

tenda, beautiful rifles as ever! What scope is that mounted on the shorter of the pair?

mrk - Systema. 'nuff said. I was looking to buy a Systema M16A4... maybe still am, but too much money going on my car at the moment. One day, maybe...

Kilo 1-1 - Gun looks good, does the barrel run all the way down the suppressor?

Taco, that's a beautiful paintjob on that carbine.

Scaar.at - beautiful rifles! Very nice, clean and pure ;-) Somewhere on my "must-buy" list is a full on M16A2 replica w/ metal reciever and the like...

Brakoo, what sort of ACOG you got on that thing? Looks evil...

Keep the pics coming guys! :D

The ACOG works really well once get used to it and zero you're weapon to it.

I went for a SOPMOD look with the gun but lost interest after buying the M203, in the UK everyone has red dots but the ACOG's has a better look and my one is still on its original batteries and has had loads of use (sometimes forget to switch it off  ) and comes with a spare set of batts which was a plus.

I am thinking of replacing this M4 with a new ICS M4 as they are far better spec'd than this one was.

Yes it does seem a bit pricey, but i agree with USMC VA you would do better with a CA or G & P as they are excellant weapons.

I know ICS have a bad rep in the states but you could go for one, but go for a metal one as the new TM one has not had good reviews and can still suffer with barrell wobble apparently.

Try here they are in California and are good and would save you $200 over the one you showed.

http://www.airsoftextreme.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=364_67&products_id=1898

But look at the CA's and the other metal ones you wont regret it in the long run.

My baby...started life as a TM SR16. Fastest paintjob in airsoft history. Well, probably not, but its a very very fast one anyway. It doesn't take a lot of time with Tamiya. It takes 5 minutes to dry between layers. And 2 hours to dry completely.

Very nice Minjin!
How long did it take you?
My old paintjob was done in about 6-10 minutes.

Well before I got the SIR on it, back in the days of the normal RIS and G3 bipod, the paint job took 5-10 minutes. I just did the SIR before a night game a couple weeks back, took about three mins to basecoat a couple coats, and then thirty seconds of the green and brown. Krylon dries really fast, I like it.

Nice, I also use Krylon for "fast and furious" painting. My last paintjob was also done right before a skirmish.

Interesting at best. With this M16 front end, the M4's actually lighter than with my SOPMOD front (RIS, PEQ, etc).
I don't use the M16 front end, as I was only throwing it on for experimental purposes. The M16 that the front barrel belongs is currently at my place for

Unfortunately used SPR are usually very expensive because of all the custom parts (outside+inside) and they are mint most of the time. I'm not even talking about the number of these guns sold. It would be better to build your own. You can make a Mod 0 with your M4 for cheap.

I pulled out my old hunting burlap cloth and applied strips to the M4 (350 fps). This would be used during spotting/recon roles, mostly when I'm working alone or with another guy (as a pair). The burlap backdrop isn't a 100% accurate representation of my AO, as the place I skirm isn't as "dry," and has some more brown/greenish areas to it as well.

An M16A4 is similar to an M16A2 except, as you say, it has a removable carry handle and a RIS where the carry handle attaches. The forward rail as used by the US military is the Knights Armament Company M5-RAS. You can find a KAC RAS for a few hundred bucks from various gun stores, or Classic Army and G&P make excellent replicas in the region of US$120-200. Most manufacturers sell A3s and A4s without the RAS replica, though I think Red Wolf are selling a G&P gun with the RAS.

Roanoke

That's what I thought. I knew that M16A4s were supposed to have the rails on the foregrip and under the carry handle. I was just puzzled by the fact that it seems all the airsoft rifles that are sold as A4s are the same as A2s but with removeable carry handles.

You have to buy aftermarket rail systems for airsoft A4s?

no, I mean G&P receivers.
I have seen the ones you're showing before, and the upper reciever looked weird, like in two pieces. I didn't trust that make. What make is it? I don't remember. I only want G&P metal receivers.

It's Zeke. The quality of Zeke bodies are much better than G&P, even better than Systema. The first set of Zeke bodies had very brittle metal but the quality got much better.

Whatever will fit on a G&P body will fit on a Zeke.

They are by far the easiest metal bodies to install so I do recommend them as a first metal body. I've worked with over 2 dozen G&P bodies and almost all have been crap...the biggest issue is how the lower fits to the upper - they usually don't and leave a pretty wide gap where debris can fall into. That's just 1 of many issues; I can get into more details if you want. The best metal bodies I think are Zeke and Systema/Guarder. I've never used a Hurricane but was told they are pretty good as well.

As for custom bodies, I said this on another forum...I use U-Station (Microstation) to design them and machine them using CNC lathe and milling machine. So far I can only make lowers with simple trades (e.g. Stag, Ameetec, AA, etc)...based on Zeke bodies. I've posted pics of my custom lower with Defender trades on another forum (arnies, same nic).

I've never seen anything like this Zeke's design with the 2 piece upper. It seems it doesn't come with the flattop rail. I'm assuming one's supposed to use the stock TM's upper rail (since it can be detached from the TM plastic body)?

EDIT : and how to you put the delta ring on the body? there is no thread. I have seen these bodies in WGC before but I never considered them.

The fact that it is in two pieces do not detract for the quality one bit. Once assembled it is solid and have never had any issues with them. I've recently assembled two AR's...one requested a Zeke A2E body while the other the G&P SPR A1 set.

Zeke took about an hour to assemble, didn't need to file anything down. Fit perfectly, zero seams. The cons, I did have to charge extra for the KN steel forward assist. Also, charged extra for a steel 2 piece hop. A one piece systema can be modded to fit, but again, that will be extra.

Now the G&P:

Biggest issue, the upper does not fit with the lower. Go through this thread and you can spot G&P receivers easily. Typically, towards the magwell, the upper will bend upward leaving a gap towards the front of the gun on both faces. In the pictures (again throughout this site), you can easily see the gearbox...this seam is big enough where all kinds of crap can fall into this seam and can potentially damage internals. Look at any CA M15, no gap. Zeke, Systema, or Guarder...no gap.

When you get a stock marui AR, you'll notice how smooth the selector clicks into place. The SPR set I just installed, the selector does not click into safe and auto. The "bars" above the selector are misaligned preventing the selector to be horizontal. Needed to be filed down...now the entire body needed repaint.

The rear body pin, the gearbox pin, and the trigger guard pin do not fit. The holes on both faces are misaligned. Either the pins needed to be grinded down or one of holes made wider. Again, body needed repaint.

I'm using a GB-Tech Mk12Mod0 conversion kit. The barrel does not fit into the upper body of the G&P receiver. There is loose material everywhere that prevents the barrel to properly engage the upper.

The charging handle does not function and cannot be pulled back since there is loose material everywhere. When I pull the handle back to adjust the hop, I can feel the handle grinding against the gearbox. Now, I personally don't care about the dust cover opening up. Zeke and Guarder bodies both retain this functionality.

The grip that came with the SPR set doesnot fit. There is a seam between the grip and lower that causes another opening to the gearbox.

Their hop-up is ****...didn't even bother installing it and replaced it with a systema unit.

I can post photo comparison of Systema, Zeke, and G&P if you want to point out all of these flaws.

Now, most of these are small details that can be fixed with a bit of tape (I usually recommend to tape up the seams when used outdoors). However, the gaps are unacceptable. How can Systema, Guarder, and Zeke put out metal kits that fit together without all these problems? Zeke, Systema, and Guarder kits are not flawless by any means, but G&P quality for metal body kits are way too poor. Like I said, early Zeke kits used a very brittle metal and had no Colt trades. G&P conversion kits are great...I've used their A1, A2, and M733 kits and they all look great and assembled easily. Also, their CNC SR-25 limited body was great...it assembled perfectly and was nearly flawless. So why can't all their metal body kits be this way?

Thanks for the answer.

I agree with you on some points.
You installed a lot of G&P metal body and you didn't have luck.
I own 6 Armalites and 5 of them have G&P metal bodies. I installed most of them. I often assemble G&P ARs or customs for every day care or modifications.

The "AR15" (early M16A1VN receiver) had gap between upper and lower. I admit it's annoying. The M4 Marine too. But all other are great (M16A2 Burst, M16A1 with forward assist and M4 "seals"). No gap. Solid.
The fact is that when you adapt Marui gearboxes and accessories you don't have problems. If you try to adapt something else you'll have problems.

G&P metal bodies and front set fits perfectly. No fine necessary. (you need the tool, I think you have it). The delta ring is perfectly attached and it's solid. I only have G&P front sets except the M16A4 but I used a G&P Delta ring.

Now concerning the colours of the metal bodies, I think they are perfect. The thickness of the coating is amazing on the M16A1VN/A1/A2 series. The colour is really great. The new "Marine" or "Seal" bodies are black. Well, I wanted a black body for the M16A4 and the other has been repainted with tan TAMIYA.

Now the metal used : It's solid enough for every airsofter. Once a 200 pounds guy jumped on my AR15. NOTHING HAPPENED. I personnaly thing it's solid and I trust the quality of these bodies. The aluminium is good. It's not some ZAMAC metal. It's pure aluminium. Probably not higher rate and probably done the best but good enough for me. Even really good.

I know people that installed Guarder bodies and they suffered a lot. SO I will never buy a guarder body. The new series are pain in the ass to install. I don't have details but I heard that several time and I will not try by myself.

Keep in mind that a G&P metal body with accessories is 100$. It's really a good deal and after two years of use my AR15 has no prolems with the paint. I think it's new. I have to use sand paper and a dremel to age the bodies. Amazing in my opinion.

So, the Zeke body may be solid, but the two piece upper doesn't charm me. I don't believe that's solid to assemble the two parts together. Then to add the top rail. I still don't know how you fix the barrel. I know G&P barrels are solid with G&P bodies and delta rings.

EDIT
WGC says :
- Suitbale for Marui M4 A1/S-System.
- Recommended for experienced user.
So if you have an M16 you can't buy that body?
And where are the forward assit knob and the hop up chamber? And the dust cover?

Do CLassic Army's accept G&P Bodies?

They should be able to, if I'm not mistaken.

I do know for a fact that G&P bodies have the sliding receivers (for field stripping) like CA bodies.

NoMercy, I like your third rifle a lot - the one with the tan rail covers and bits and the ACOG. Looks very hispeed.

I got an Aimpoint to mount on my SPR, but it came with the L-mount, so it's too low... doesn't work with my PVS-14. Anyone got any idea where I can get a cantilever mount in the UK real quick? I don't wanna wait for something to come in from HK.

EDIT - NoMercy, is that a real ACOG?!

I know the overall look isn't anything special.... blah CQBR. But, if you look at the details you will begin to see why I posted it here. By the way if you are interested in something similar then I can hook you up, PM me for details.

http://www.airsoftadvance.com/coppermine/albums/userpics/10003/IMG_3207.jpg

I started with a Guarder New Generation M4 Blank body and designed the artwork to fit the areas needed. I did make a mistake in setting it up that I did not realize until after I assembled it. On the left side of the body where it says "SEMI" I did not provide enough space for the selector switch. It covers the text up a little bit. Now that I know that I can make the proper adjustments. I think I may be able to use a CA metal body for this as well..... However, the logos would need to be sanded off and the body repainted. I am going to try this with the SPR I am buidling and I will let you guys know if that is possible within the next week or so. If it is possible then I would offer the service from start to finish with sanding and painting. If I took care of that then we'd need to talk a little bit about labor and paint fees. I'm pretty confident it will work and look nice.

Goonk,

I didn't draw on the body, I actually used Corel Draw to create the digital vector line image and had it laser engraved. I spent near 15 years in the sign business and made some good contacts in the engraving field as well as learned my way around some design work. BTW, the "SHTF" was "stolen" from that G&P Seals body becuase I thought it was fuuuuuuuuuny. Seeing how my CQBR fires at 405-410fps at a rate of 24 rounds per second I figured it was appropriate. I used a Laylax Satellite Chrono to measure it.

I'm pretty sure it releases all tension on the piston so the nozzle isn't forward when you disassemble, etc.

Either that, or it's the auto-break feature, which, well, breaks the gun faster. p-) p-) p-)

Nice gun gargoyle, what mount is that? how many mm

It has been ages since I bought it and I am not sure of the manufacturer I do specifically remember it cost $54. It is a replica A.R.M.S. mount I believe the spacer is 10mm. King Arms makes one just like it although I am not convinced it is the same as mine and it can be found at WGC Shop. http://www.wgcshop.com/pcart/shopper.php?itm=KA-SM-02_cat_Mount%20Rings

G&P also makes one but WGC is out of stock. It might be worth looking for one though since it is quite a bit cheaper. http://www.wgcshop.com/pcart/shopper.php?itm=GP-SMR-510_cat_Mount%20Rings

Hope that helps..... I do love that mount. I have to say in true "poser" fashion I saw it on a real M4 from pictures from Iraq and had to have it.

The forward assist button releases the strain on the gears by returning them to a start position, it is very handy and increases the life of the gearbox.

This is my 2nd ICS M4, Nothing ever went wrong with my old one (had phoenix arms trades) but the older one's had plastic bushings in a full metal gearbox which was a bit stupid but she had fired about a 100,000 rounds so i cant complain, the new one has a 1J spring, silicone wiring & a completely metal gearbox so i thought it was time for an upgrade.

Solo, I apologise for not being able to reply sooner. As usual though, the quality of your rifles just continues to astound me - particularly the M4 and the M16A4. Simply outstanding.
My next project (once I've stopped spending money on my car!) is to do a proper M16A2, much like you've got - hopefully I'll be able to have that finished by year-end.
I've one question though - In this (http://solodallas.googlepages.com/ap1.jpg) picture, the metal on your RAS appears to have blued somewhat? It's a pretty cool effect to be honest, I was just wondering how it became that way...

You need *not* to apologize my friend (smiles).
And thanks a lot for your appreciation.

Answer: it came like that (blue/purple). It's a real KAC. I was told some come in that color. Some folks (I was told) even dislike it, and seemingly pouring some kind of oil on it will make it change color into a darker shade (of blue/purple, I imagine).

;)

I received my SPR outer barrel Friday and put the gun together with the sanded down and painted CA body as I mentioned in my previous post about my custom logo CQBR. Once I field it to see if the paint survives I will go forward with custom laser engraved trades on this one.

How's the accurace on your PTW's?

Inner barrel is a 6.10 (not 6.01) so accuracy is "standard".
You can purchase a custom inner barrel (I have) and accuracy increases a lot.
