I have a book published in 1990 and covering Fort Bragg.
The -almost- same pictures appeared but different angles. Same CASA (Tail Code 70159), same number of men (6), same jump suits (a mix of tan and dark green for the instructors), same helmets and parachutes, same tarmac markings, same scenery. The guy with a white lace(?) around his left jungle boot is also here! What a coincidence...
The captions say this is the airstrip at JFK Special Warfare Center within the Fort Bragg compound. Two CASA 212 are tasked to train "small groups à la SAS" for HALO jumps. " ...Given the nature of their work special authorisation had to be obtained to photograph even this session..." They insisted on the sensitive nature of the group but you could clearly see some faces.
Published in 1990, I find it surprising to see the almost same pictures 14 years later. I checked the airplane and found some evidences here http://www.airliners.net/open.file/524223/L/ : the strips on the fuselage is missing on this very recent picture (january 2004).
Thus, those ***** images have been taken a long time ago despite what the Time Life captions said (1998) and there is nothing original since it has been published in a book.
BTW Delta or not? Who cares? ;)
