Namibia: Nujoma Threatens With Atom Bombs

NAMIBIA could "make its own atomic bombs" should any external threats occur, form president Sam Nujoma has said.
Speaking at the inauguration of the northern railway line at Ondangwa on Saturday, the Nujoma said economic freedom of the African continent was the major challenge faced by its nations after political independence was achieved.

The new northern railway extension was a step to regional economic acceleration and would benefit Namibia's landlocked neighbours if linked to the rail network of southern Angola.
"We must prove to the whole mankind that we can do better," Nujoma emphasised.

"We have uranium here (in Namibia) and we train our own scientists and engineers and if they (external forces) create nonsense we can make our own atomic bombs," Nujoma declared, speaking off the cuff.

So, wait.. Namibians are starving.. And their priority is to make nuclear bombs if someone 'create nonsense'?

I don't even see the context. Are there any brewing wars in Southern Africa we don't know about?

Good thinking Mr Nujoma. Maybe he can be the leading scientist of their nuclear program too since he's such an einstein.

They barely got running water and road work down. Getting a little cocky with the "We be making dah bombz n shiat" rhetoric eh?

He should check his priorities.

Have the US threatened to invade Namibia or why does every one want fraggin nukes these days.

I donīt see any country in Africa in need of developing nuclear weapons.
Most conflicts going on are civil wars or the like.

BTW does Namibia have a sizable airforce?

We will have a "bright" future if every nutcase aims at getting nuclear Weapons.

Is there a real connection between Namibia and Iran/NK? If Mr. Nujoma states that heīs got uranium, would he be willing to sell it to the above mentioned countries? Or just someone asking for more money from the US and the EU?

It's called 'Juche'. Invented by Kim Il-Sung, it means 'self-reliance' or something along those lines. The North Korean interpretation of 'self-reliance' is reverse-engineering of Chinese rockets, production of nuclear bombs, and reliance on UN and Japanese food drops. p-)

I guess that's what this guy is aiming for..

Yup its our new "bright" non MAD future. It is only a matter of time before we will see more of nuclear wannabes. Inability of world community to enforce NPT treaty and fact that some countries already skimed under the "radar" and got their nukes will encurage other countries to seek means of obtaining nuclear weapons. It is starting to be seen as a tool how small countries might threaten larger countries too not mess in to their internal politic and to acutaly sustain their insufficient or weak economy. I think next decade might be called age of warhead politic if there is anyone to call it that when we move to age of mushrooms.
