My first post here, 'don't bite my head of if this goes wrong:

http://www.rtl.nl/(vm=/actueel/rtlnieuws/home/)/system/video/html/components/actueel/rtlnieuws/miMedia/2006/week30/ma_1930_soldaten.avi_plain.xml (http://www.rtl.nl/%28vm=/actueel/rtlnieuws/home/%29/system/video/html/components/actueel/rtlnieuws/miMedia/2006/week30/ma_1930_soldaten.avi_plain.xml)

Maybe someone from Israel can explain who these guys in white are, it looks very monty-pythonesque.

Cheers,

They are Breslav guys, they believe that as people will be happier the Messiah will come faster so you must be happy when you work god.
That's just the way they work god, they ain't realy happy for the war.

In the van they usualy play trance versions of prayers and trance music.

And make a LOT of noise, but it is still quite funny to see them extracting themsleves faster from their van faster than a squad of trained golanis out of an achzarit for the sake of dancing around the time of a red light.

Anyway, who is intrested in insider look on breslavers, recently quite a decent comedy/drama was made by a breslaver actor. Actually, he was an actor before he became religious. Him and his wife are acting title roles. Film is called Ushpizin (aramaic for guests). This is the official site of the film: http://www.ushpizin.com/

Younger breslavers tend not to wear jackets, so white is their shirts. Oh, yes, song on a trailer is by a breslaver musician, Adi Ran.

Oh, yes, if someone think that those breslavers are freaky, check this breslaver out:

My name is Neo!

the guy is for real. This is his website:

Of course, he also became religious. The story is even more freaky then pictures. His name is Nigel Admor. He was born in Jamaica in a kind of traditional family, where he learned martial arts from some guys from chinese community. Later he got into korean martial arts. When he came to Israel, he became a quasi star, he recorded first reggae album (Hummus Metamtem, or, his translation, mistake is his, "Hummus make you stupid"), and was first in Israel to expermemt with rap. Then he became a serious breslav, invented a martial art for which he claims that it is a ancient israelite martial art that he only revived, and he claims that all martial arts come from jews, for example, for samurai he claims that it comes from shomer, or guard. The guy is a total freak, but he is for real. People who are into martial arts claim that he is really good (from video clips on his site), and his music was, actually, quite good. I couldn't tell, to me, clips are funny as hell.

Breslavers are freakiest of all hassidic movments, including carlebachniks.

They're not really mainstream Breslevers - they're a strange group that believe the original leader of that movement, Rabbi Nachman of Breslev, is the promised messiah. They have a chant they do - "Na-Na-Nachman" - that is supposed to call him back into the present. Doesn't seem to be working, but why let that spoil the party (and the music)?

In his biography the first two lines say: "Grandmaster Yehoshua Sofer is a very well kept secret. He is known and discussed in higher circles of the martial arts, military, law enforcement, and intelligence communities in Israel and elsewhere in the world with much respect."

Anybody else have trouble balancing the two sentences? He is a well kept secret but discussed all over the world? That is like jumbo shrimp.

p.s. I like how he has trade marked his name.

See, if radical Islam had fun guys like that, or sects like the Bratslav or Satmar (Abbott and Costello of the Orthodox), nobody would be scared of them.

But wahabis hate their guts. Dervish are cool. Good music, good poetry, nice philosopy... Not to get into Rumi, google for Yunus Emre, I prefer him to Rumi. He is quite a humanist. No wonder wahabis hate them.

Anyway, some more nachnachs freaking out on the street in jerusalem: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fdhzduy-fRY

Forgot about the Sufi; they just aren't in the news these days. They got a bum rap from being falsely associated with the Mahdi's Army in the Sudan.
