On cable the yesterday I watched the Reginal Pandemic Flu Conference. Harborview Medical center. I found out they are still working on getting everyone to plan for disease. One thing that distrubed me was the est. cost of a pandemic $181 billion. Also, the projected time to make a vaccine, 6-8 months. The guy said that it would take a long time for the general population to get the vaccine too. So I'd say we are not in any way ready for any kind of bioloical warfare or even an outbreak of contagious flu or other virus.:cantbeli:

Nothing new in it. Only thing to teake in to is that for many common biological agents that might be used in war exist various kinds of antidotes and vaccines. Some of them are more that propably military secret. They most propably don't have enough even for their own troops not to mention civies. Ofcourse problem starts when someone use something seriously modified or brand new kind of bio agent. If you aren't someone important you are expendable in such situation. You will get your vaccine when its your turn in the line what might mean never or you will no longer need it because you are pushing up the floweres.

I read in the news a few weeks ago that many of the cases of SARS that China reported 2 years ago were actually bird flu...and they knew it. When the WHO heard that, they just about came unglued.
