The company that builds the most famous diggers in the world has built its own Hummer-like 4x4, Auto Express can exclusively reveal.
JCB, renowned for its yellow excavation equipment, amazed the world earlier this year with the Dieselmax oil-burning land speed record car. However, these official pictures of its new military-spec 6.7-litre High Mobility Utility Vehicle (HMUV) are the start of an even more amazing project at the firm, based in Uttoxeter, Staffs.
"It's like a Hummer, only better looking," said a spokesman. "It's really rugged and truly is a go-anywhere vehicle."

I'll take this model right here. But with the steering wheel on the left.

yeah..at least with the hummer you have some standoff distance..and the bulletproof glass..that stuff ain't light..and what if you head on run into someone..Cab Overs are ok for some things..but in a accident your too close to the scene.

You can up armour a vehicle once it has a chassis and drivetrain. The windows can get changed or downsized.
Hell you can give it a drivers periscope!
alternatively its not for use in the role of a Hummer / Iveco / Landy. It oculd be used to replace the Man trucks for the RLC (not likely we jsut got new ones) or the Bedford fleet, maybe the saxon fleet.
Armour is not necessary on every vehicle, though in an area like Iraq where the supply chains arent top the rear they are more necessary

They are shorter however, better for when you're packing them into a C130 or transport ship.

I don't know about "better looking than a HUMMER" - unless they mean better visibility than a HUMMER.
Kinda looks a bit like a Pinzgauer on steroids...
