how about posting frame captures of real world military weapons being used in unrealistic settings in movies, ill start off with the great straigth to dvd scifi classic The Final encounter

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0113092/
this movie takes place in the future in a remote planet, its sort of a rip off Starship troopers without the nudity, special effecte , or action. yet the weapons are very much of this world. at least they did not add fake laser sounds :)

I approve the Catherine Bell theme whole-heartedly. I also wish to draw comparisons between Gypsum's use of Horses with Proust's early novels, an excellent and most worthy analysis.

Ha Ha Ha, I actually watched this movie a couple of nights ago!
I love how their uniforms looked brand spanking new with creases still from the plastic packaging, but they went to the WWII bargain bin for their weapons!
Its one of those crap movies thats worth watching for the laughs.

Anyways, my contribution isn't idiotic, but still out of place with a sci-fi. It's from a very good (and very depressing) anime called Jin Roh. Without going into too much detail, it takes place in a alternate-history Japan where there is a civil war between the fascist government and leftist terrorists. The movie is supposed to be set several decades after WWII and the government soldiers are supposed to have the most advanced armor and weapons possible, but their guns look a little...off. This should be painfully obvious to anyone who has remotely visited this forum.

I don't know about that screenshot, but the guns in the anime were mostly german weapons, which doesn't seem that much out of place considering it is after World War II, an MG-42 is still pretty good at what it does.

Well considering that they were developed most propably to protect from primitive weapons and intimidate humans cosidering fact that they didn't protect well aginst energy weapons.

From what I remember, the movie took place in the 60s-70s. It kinda makes sense for them to use German weapons very early in the movie when it was right after WWII, but I expected them to use M16's or Ak's or M60's rather than still using German WWII-era weapons. I guess they weapons were to stress how evil the government was, which wasn't really needed since their armor did a good job of showing that.

From what I remember, the movie took place in the 60s-70s. It kinda makes sense for them to use German weapons very early in the movie when it was right after WWII, but I expected them to use M16's or Ak's or M60's rather than still using German WWII-era weapons. I guess they weapons were to stress how evil the government was, which wasn't really needed since their armor did a good job of showing that

I am absolutely sure that in a world, where Germany won WW2, everyone will be running around with Russian and American weapons happily.

It was not to show how evil the government was. It was simply (alternative)historical accuracy. The same can be observed on the Helicopter which is labeled POLIZEI etc.

bad use of prop weapons does not only apply to "B" movies , cinema classics also guilty; such as Lawrence of Arabia

Turkish infantry uses a lot of SMLE in the first half of the movie and then switches to Mauser long 98 for the second half.
