View Full Version : RIR Colour Sergeant killed in Mosul, Iraq

MoD have confirmed that one of the PMC's killed in Mosul on Sunday ws Colour Sergeant Chirstopher McDonald, 39, from Bangor, County Down.
He was on resettlement leave at the end of his service with the Royal Irish Regiment and had served with 1RIR on Op Telic 1.

Holy shat...........this will hit the fan big time over this,and will be a huge embarrasment to the MOD.
This has some pretty serious implications regarding his widow(if he has one?)

He must have been one of the Home service RIR regiments because the 1st batt is in Inverness now.
Rest in peace.
No, he was 1st Bn, but based in the province (HQNI I think).

The Colour Sergeant' role was to attend the Colours at all times in the field back in the day. I have no idea what its role is today.

A Colour Sgt today is generally the CQMS(Company Quarter Master Sergeant),ie he runs the Company stores etc,is responsible for the Rations and Ammo in the field etc

Maybe he´s what´s called the fourrier in french or furriel in spanish. Anyway, sorry to listen that news. R.I.P.
