Anyone knows what type of jet crashed today near Kaliningrad?
the 2 pilots died in the crash on their way to navy day.
that would be the 5th crash in 3 days or so if i'm correct no?
and does anyone have any pictures of the accident yet?
(don't want to sound morbid, but i'm always amazed of how fast members of this site can get their hands on pics)

i am referring to another incident that happened today.
apparently a MIG-29 also crashed 2 days ago. i believe those are 2 different incidents. i may be wrong but this one seem to be in Ural.
"A Russian high performance combat aircraft MiG-29, which belonged to aerobatics team “Strizi” (Swifts) has crashed during a take-off attempt in the Ural regional city of Perm, a local Emergency Ministry representative told RIA Novosti news agency.
“Six aerobatic teams’ MiGs, which headed to the city of Tumen (West Siberia region), landed in Perm to refuel. The problems occurred when the second aircraft was attempting to take-off. The plane left the moist strip and crashed. The pilots were catapulted and were not hurt”, the spokesman said.

i am now utterly confused. it seems a 3rd russian plane crashed near moscow (on the 27th). or was it the previous Su-30 report?
A Yakovlev Yak 130 combat trainer jet today (july 27th) crashed at Zhukovsky airfield near here causing no casualties or damage on the ground, Press Trust of India news agency reports.
“Two pilots of the aircraft safely baled out. No damage was reported in the village near the crash site,” a source in the Zhukovsky-based Gromov Flight Research Institute was quoted as saying by Interfax.
Earlier, the Russian media had mistakenly reported about the crash of Sukhoi Su-30 fighter at the, the Gromov Institute source clarified.

Russian bomber crashes killing two
Moscow, July. 30 (PTI): A Russian Sukhoi Su-24M frontline bomber crashed today in an airfield in the Baltic enclave of Kaliningrad killing its two pilots.
The bomber crashed while taking off from Chernyakhovsk airfield for Russian Naval Day parade at the Baltiisk base of the Baltic Fleet.
Both pilots of the bomber died as they could not bale out due to the low altitude, the ITAR-TASS agency said quoting an official of the Baltic Fleet headquarters.
Today's accident was the third in a week for Russian military jets.
On Wednesday a new generation Yak-130 jet trainer crashed during certification trials near Moscow and the next day another air force MiG-29UB of the aerobatics team crashed at an airbase in the Urals due to bird hit during take off.
In both cases the pilots managed to bale out safely.

Reminds me of here in the states when military helicopters just fall out of the sky. And I am talking about New York, Texas and Alaskan skies not Iraq or Afghanastan...

euh okay...
what does it have to do with the 2 brave flanker pilots lost in russia today?
if 5 US jets crash including 1 killing a top ranking officer, i can guarantee you that you'll see a dozen threads about it on this site.
many of us are pilots and a lost pilot is a tragedy for many of us, no matter what skies he flies under or what flag is on his/her sleeve.
we are just as concerned when 4-5 jets crash within the same week here, there and in bangladesh. or are you saying that foreign pilots don't weigh as much as US pilots and therefore we shouldn't be all that concerned with stuntman?

The number of aircraft crashes during the last month in Russia borders on the absurd. One could blame the military crashes on the higher frequency of exercises, testing of the new equipment, etc., but what can be said about the civilian aircraft?

The worst tradegy ever in Airshow history. Happened in Ukraine nearby Lviv

i have read all kind of crazy conspiracy theories that aren't even worth mentioning.
the fact that the Russian Navy Commander-in-Chief Vladimir Masorin was on board of the TU-134 is certainly not helping calming the crazy rumors.

You make it sound like there were dozens of crashes in Russia in this month alone. There were two crashes, earlier this month a MiG-29 crashed, pilots safely ejected, and just now an Su-24 Fencer crashed, both pilots failing to eject and were killed.

your grasp of the english language isn't that strong. in no way was he insinuating that or anything else youre accusing him of.
so why was he bringing up US helicopter crashes in alaska? yes, he was insinuating that US planes crash just as easily which wasn't the point of this thread.
i'm not accusing him of anything either. i wanted to know why every time we mention a russian plane crashing and the lost of yet another pilot it becomes this huge argument. in no way we were attacking or blaming the russian pilots but just showed concern. is that so wrong? at least i was.
but maybe my poor use of the english language is to blame as you so kindly noted :)
i will mourn the 2 lost pilots, you guys can do whatever you please.

news reports say that's the 3rd this week only (see earlier post from PTI news agency) not mentioning the civilian aircrafts that crashed too (see earlier post about the TU-134 and airbus). maybe the reports are all wrong, what do i know...
listen. i'm not trying to pick a fight here. it's all over the news world-wide and it's certainly not a reason to rejoice and celebrate. i am not happy about it if it's what you mean. we don't like planes crashing. period.

Thank you for backing me up
BadKarma26, but I was in noway shape or form insulting the Russian pilots. I was just saying that from time to time this happens in the states. Sure maybe it is pointless to mention this but this is the first thought I had in relating to the tragic accidents in Russia..
RIP Rus.. pilots!
