for my friend goat89 up in canada:

during cold response exercise, many troops involved- pioneers are from the 2REG, the snipers are from the 7BCA and the guys on skidoos are 4RCH.

the hurt fellow is from norway. attended by a french medic.

enjoy goat.

11,000 troops involved, 11 countries... major NATO exercise north of norway sometimes last march.

french troops were from the 27th Mountain Infantry Brigade

Couple of degrees Celsius, but it really doesn't matter if it is +1 or +10, it'll kill you anyway quite fast. No time for a long swim.

i'm no frogman, but i can imagine those guys are wearing arctic wet suits and all for the approach, but after that those suits must weight a ton (especially wet) and be very cumbersome no?

do they ditch all the suits, masks, fins... on the bank and start their mission on land wearing different gear?
