Not so much Military but an integral part of Australia's Coastline Defence against illegal fishing, immigrants and drug runners.

Very nice! How many aircraft do the Australian Customs operate?

10 Dash 8's and increasing.

There's also some of the Islanders and other smaller aircraft.

Ah, the ole Eye in the Sky, eh?.. Those Dash-8's would swoop our trawler on an almost-daily basis during the start of Prawn Season. They must rack up a fair few flying hours hours covering the Top End. They give you added peace of mind from an SAR point of view, too, as your location is fairly well known at any given time, on most days...

I have been lucky enough to go for a stroll aboard one of those sleek ACV's whilst it was moored at the Sanctuary Cove Boat Show a few years back... Quite a shiny piece of kit, indeed. I was most impressed. Excellent assets for the good guys, Trouble with a capital "T" for all the Bad guys....

Hell no mate, I left Australian Customs Coastwatch last year because they're a pack of mongrols.

But if you do a Google search you'll find some of their new aircraft I believe..

if they've updated their site.

MV Oceanic Viking and ACV Triton. Some photos of some boarding parties and the best one for last, a detector dog in training.
