i dont know if anyone can answer this, but i would appreciate it if anyone had any ideas. I was in the militia for a bit, the Infantry to be exact. I left back in 1999, but have since come to a point where i would like to re-enlist. Does anyone know if you have to go back through basic and battle school if you re-enlist? I imagine i would have to, but im curious none the less. I dont really fancy the idea of going through battle school again. Anyway, thought i would bug you lot before i start bugging the recruiters.
Cheers,

They will do a Verification of Former Service and may or may not give you credit for what you already have.
Worse case scenario you'll have to do it again.
I'd call your old unit's recruiter first presuming you're planning on joining the same unit, rather than talk to CFRC.

not pimping or anything just a canadian forces forum I've come across, though I'm sure a few guys here can help you
talking to your old recruiter would indeed be a start though yeah

Threelions,
There are several factors that will come into play:
How long were you in?
Did you have any QL4 or QL5?
JLC/JNCO?
When in '99 did you leave? (the army does not like to give credit that are 5 or more years stale)

Thanks for all the help guys. I got in touch with the Regiments recruiting NCO yesterday. Looks like i will be retaking basic, but may be able to skip Battle school. That would be ok, cause basic is fairly easy. Battle school was good the first time round, but i certainly dont fancy doing it again
Cheers,

The EZBoard one at least they act more professional. Little swearing and less condecending attitudes there. A couple even know what they are talking about.

Well i have taken all the advice i grabbed from here and i went and visited the Recruiting NCO for the regiment last night. All in all i think it went wonderful and i have filed the priliminary paper work. It looks like i may be able to skip infantry battle school this second time through as long as i complete basic again. We have to wait for my VFS to get back to the unit in about a month before the Regiment can make any firm plans with me. I cant wait!!
Cheers

Does anybody else find this to sound a little backward? It is like saying you are qualified Infantryman but not yet qualified as a soldier.

I was thinking the same thing. Hmmm maybe I should give the recruiting centre a call to annoy them. I can see it now.
"Yeah we're going to recognize your QL3 Inf, your 3x QL4s (Mortar, MG and Recce) and all your leadership courses up to MWO, but sorry you have to go through recruit training."
