Damn I am stupid or what, well just go to that link I gave you.You know, you can put between and only pictures not .html files. So, find a picture, click left mouse button, find properties and copy the whole URL to the pic (.jpg or .gif)
For example: http://www.mors.si/mors/slovenska_vojska/enote/brig1_sv/gallery/images/pic08.jpg, but put and instead of and . Carry on! ;)

Does anyone have pictures of the Slovenian modification of the T55?http://www.jedsite.info/tanks/tango-numbers-su/t-55_series/m-55s/m55s_007.jpg
M-55S
One of the latest derivatives of the T-55 was carried out in Slovenia by the STO RAVNE company and engineers of the Israeli company Elbit. Slovenia modernised 30 T-55 tanks in the inventory of its armed forces. The latest M-55S upgrade was handed over to the customer in May 1999.
A 105-mm gun with a thermal sleeve was installed, with the tank's armour was considerably reinforced by Rafael explosive reactive armour attached to the hull and the turret. The fire control system was also improved through the integration of a digital ballistic computer. The gunner has the two-axis stabilized Fontana SGS-55 day-and-night sight with an integral laser rangefinder. In addition to the integral optic sight the commander has the Fontana COMTOS-55 sight with an independent line-of-sight stabilisation, which allows him to acquire targets and lay the gun independently if required. The driver has the Fontana CODRIS combined day/night observation periscope. The laser illumination warning receiver was mated with front-mounted smoke grenade dischargers and can be automatically activated in an emergency. Modernisation of the B-12 diesel engine resulted in an increase in power from 520 hp to 600 hp. Replacement of this engine with a German 850hp MAN diesel engines is being considered. The running gear has rubber side skirts and the tank was outfitted with new rubber and metal tracks. Communications aids were also improved.

I have always been quite fasinated by these light ones, but I can´t really see that they have any role
in a conflict. Even against some "UCK"-type of guerilla (which would be unlikely in Slovenia),
their heavy truck-mounted HMG´s could be nasty against this little bird.

The Pilatus PC 9M-Hudournik is designed only for training purposes and is not designed or meant for combat roles. Since we are in NATO now, our airspace is guarded by NATO from Italian and Hungarian airbases, so what will happen to these airplanes I don't know and to the crews that fly them, because if I am correct we won't have any fighter planes in the near or even distant future.
About the UCK example, that is completly impossible, because the Albanians in Kosovo were treated like minority or worse (now that is my opinion and I won't go into any political discussion about it and I won't even answer it if someone tries to flame!), here in Slovenia we have two minorities (italian and hungarian), which have full rights, then we have also the slovenian citizens who came from former Yugoslavian republics and were "imported" in the 60's and 70's as working men and women (like Turks and others in germany and all over Europe). So such a scenario is completly impossible because both minorty groups enjoy full rights and the citizens who are not slovenian (in case of nationality) also enjoy full rights as slovenian citizens.

Anyone know the significance of the different colored berets?
The men wearing red berets are from motorized batallion (they are infantrymen), the men wearing green berets are most probably from Military Police, although the green berets are also used in 1st Special Operations Detachment, the grey berets are from engineering batallion, the tank crews are wearing black berets, the air defences and air force are wearing blue berets and also the mountain batallion uses blue berets but are slightly different from the AF and AD berets.

No Slovenian Armed Forces do not have any fighter planes and we probably won't have any in the future. In my pesonal opinion i think that we don't need them, justa a strong air defence combined with NATO control of our airspace. Our airforce consist of this type of aircrafts:
Pilatus PC 9, Pilatus PC 6, Turbolet L-410, HE B-206, HE B-412, and Cougar AS 532 L.

The Pilatus PC 9M-Hudournik is designed only for training purposes and is not designed or meant for combat roles.
I think it actually do have some combat capabilities, as they are sold on the international market as Training/COIN aircraft (counter insurgency), ie there is some gound attack capability in uncontested airspace with very low or no AA threat.
But I think you are right in assuming that the COIN role is irrelevant to Slovakia's defense needs, and that this capability is mainly intended for foreign sales.

The M 55S is a modernized T-55. We modernize it in cooperation from israeli and slovenian industry. Check page 1 where REMOV put some information about the tank.
The M84 is basiclly T-72 but it was build under a licence in Yugoslavia and it is marked as M84.

It has some ground attack capability because our pilots also perform this kind of training (firing on ground targets) regulary but it was not meant as a combat airplane but as a trainer.

What helps the former Yugoslav republics and Baltic nations is their size. You can upgrade easier (provided the CASH flow) due to a slimmer force.
It is good that they are able to upgrade current equipment, in-country! This helps with cost plus, provides economic growth!

Croats are basicaly catholics? use latin alphabet and language almost similat to those of serbs
Slovenian catholics latin alphabet and language simmilar to mentioned above...
So how you recognize who is who what determine you being croat and what Slovenian i.e.? I am very courious since you lived quite a long time in one country so there must be some comon cultural/historical bacground..

All thats important is that...
...in 1999, mid-April, during the ongoing NATO bombing, I met a group of about a dozen Slovenians in a downtown Belgrade cafe, who came to fight alongside Serbs if NATO troops invaded.
That all that really matters:)

We recognize each other by language. Slovenian and macedonian are quite different from serb/croat. The main difference betwen serb and croat language before war was ekavstvo/ijekavstvo but after split up they both (well mostly Croats) made substantial changes to their grammar, to be different from each other.

Besides different languages that we speak (the ex-Yugoslavia was a federative state of southern Slavs-that means different nations inside an "artifical" state. Artifical state I say , because that was a goal of Tito and his people to make Yugoslavia one nation, of course that is not possible), we have different culture, history...

The tank is modified as much as it can be, besides this tanks will only be in service until 2010, after that we probably won't have any tanks in our arsenal or we will buy old thanks of western origin, that is the matter of discussion.

Equipment:
Handgun: Beretta M92 FS (other handguns are out of service now: M70, Makarov, M61, M84, Ingram, M57...) and every member of the Slovenian Army is issued with this handgun now (5000 pieces along with ammunition, spare parts...)
Automatic rifles, sniper rifles, machine guns: the weapons that will enter serice are still under evaluation and tests but we will decide most probably among these weapons:
Automatic rifles: Colt M4, Heckler&Koch G36 and FN F2000
Light machine guns: FN minimi
Heavy machine guns: FN MAG (FN MAG is already in the service but not in great numbers)-it is still not decided despite some weapons already in.
Sniper rifles: FN Ultima Ratio Commando .308, FN Hecate 2, FN Mini-Hecate .338, AI AW50, AI AE.
NBC defence: Mask is M95 (Scott Healthy&Safety in cooperation with Arex d.o.o.), light protective suit C-Cover S/89 (New Pack Systems AB), NBC gloves and NBC personal decontamination kit are also under tests (by now they should already choosen it but I have no information if they did)
Tactical Fragmentation Jacket: TFJ SB 21 (Arex d.o.o. with cooperation from British CQC, American Body Armour) with protective plates, combat helmet (Veplas-slovenian firm).

NOTE: The quality of these pictures is not good, because the pictures are scaned from an official newspaper of the Slovenian Army (Slovenska Vojska). The picture I scaned is not the full picture. I cut out some parts of it and also blurred the soldiers faces, because I doubt they would like to have their faces on an international forum, where everybody can see them.

Automatic rifles: Colt M4, Heckler&Koch G36 and FN F2000It seems a little bit improbable (especially this information about the FN F2000). In general, every army wants to use only one basic type of assault rifle not three completly different models.

Little out of topic...
Can anyone explain me what is difernce betwen Serbs,Croats,Slovenians???
I know basically that serbs are orthodox use cyrilic alphabet,as well as latin.
We recognize each other by language. Slovenian and macedonian are quite different from serb/croat. The main difference betwen serb and croat language before war was ekavstvo/ijekavstvo but after split up they both (well mostly Croats) made substantial changes to their grammar, to be different from each other.
if one is scarce with knowlege one should keep his mouth shut ;)

By the way, what's about a new assault rifle in Slovenia? Some rifles were tested (FN F2000, HK G36 etc.), but none of them was choosen yet?
