I.D.F troops that clashed with Hezbollah militants from close range had a HUGE atvantage becouse of their vests.Saved a lot of lifes.
So ill say yes.

I prefer without because that way I can just go into bullet-time and dodge everything fired at me. I wouldn't be able to do that with a vest on.

a vest for sure, no doubt it makes u able to carry less weight, and its hot as hell, but wen it comes down to it it saves lives so im puttin mine on.

In an urban situation or asymetric combat situations: YES, everything other is macho-bullsh1t.

When you have to do a three week recon patrol, you don't take it. For every direct action it's no question, you have to take it.

I would say it depends on the envionment if its really hot out I think guys would prefer without,there are alot of factors i dont doubt that they save lives just that a infantry man packs a heavy load sometimes so its up to him to decide.

a combat situation, i would definetely have to say Level III and wear it, "lighter and faster" only works in Hollywood, no body is fast enough or light enough to dodge a bullet or shrap,

yeah i second AFJROTC there...id be more worried about shrapnel protection than a bullet...although they are both weighted on the same scale

you get shot along the collar or near shoulder without a vest, you might have a good chance of living...you get your chest and stomach blasted with shrap from an IED or mortar, and you're gonna be in a dire situation without a vest
