Floyd Landis is set to lose his Tour de France title and faces a two-year ban after returning a positive B sample for excessive levels of testosterone.

The ramifications of Justin Gatlin failing a drugs test are extensive and serious for both the American and his sport.
The world and Olympic 100m champion - and joint holder of the world record - was found to have elevated levels of the hormone testosterone after a meeting in April, it has been revealed.

What is it with sportsmen that they have to win at any cost? Are there no drug free sportsmen around or do they have to take drugs to stand any chance of winning?

Years ago American football players had to eat huge steaks and lots of
taters to gain weight. They'd have to work out excessively hard to
put on the muscle too. Today a few injections and you're Superman
without the cape.

A 270lb lineman was a big person in those days. Today it's not uncommon
to see 300 pounders. Makes you wonder if meat is the only thing they're
ingesting.

It starts with the kids. We cram into them that "winning at any cost"
is the only option. Clearly, it's the only option paying cash!! They
don't recruit college and professional players from losing teams very
often. Kids see an easy way to start driving that ball over the fence
or gain 25lbs of pure muscle. What do you think they're going to do?

There isn't enough outrage by players associations or owners to stop
the drive toward increased steroid usage. Take one look at the watered
down MLB illegal substance policy -- toothless by any measure. If they
want to stop steroid usage they need a zero tolerance policy. Start
tearing up a few multi-million dollar contracts and you'll see steroid
use dry up.
