I REALLY like US pickups.....especially Chevy and Ford.

BUT, are they going to get their clocks cleaned like in the 70's when Detroit was building barges, while Japan was building fuel mizers?

Total cost of ownership counts......

I don't need a BIG ute.....just a small, four door with a bed, powered by a small diesel getting excellent fuel economy.

I hope Detroit wakes up.

At this point gas prices are not high enough. And remeber that Chevy and GMC sell smaller trucks.

Take a look at the full lineup. They don't just sell large V8 powered trucks. And remeber that both Nissan and Toyota both sell large V8 powered trucks.

And for photos.

From my stint in the construction business, all those guys seem to strongly prefer Chevy (GM) over Ford. It will be interesting to see how these sell. If I recall, Ford has now lost its streak as the best-seller.

And for some reason their more recent trucks have started to catch on fire.

yeah, Ford recalled 1.2M vehicles because of possible engine fire due to a malfunction in the cruise control switch. it's not the first time Ford has had that problem, either. Where I worked, they lost two trucks to that same problem a few years ago.

The consumer's personal maintenance of his vehicle is not going to prevent an engine fire caused by a faulty cruise control switch. Ford ****ed up big time.
