An Israeli soldier gives a photographer the finger as Israeli troops advance inside southern Lebanon 12 August 2006. Israel's new widescale offensive in Lebanon is open-ended, a senior government official told AFP this morning. Israeli troops backed by tanks and war planes pushed deep into south Lebanon only moments after the UN Security Council agreed to demand a cessation of hostilities. #1. It isn't a joke. People are all the time uncovering new photoshopped images, just take a look http://www.eureferendum.blogspot.com/

There is not a single photoshopped or forged image in the link you provided, nor have I seen a single example in the endless parades of blogger "exposes" (their general knowledge of the subject matter, photography and journalism is disgusting to say the least).

Please show me a photoshopped image from the current conflict other than the two blatant hack jobs that were pulled by ******* and were from a single photographer, who was fired.

Furthermore, besides the bloggers' interchangeable use of "photoshopped," "forged," and "staged" as if they mean the same thing, the bloggers also seem to have a poor grasp of what "staging" really means. A "staged" photograph would be one that portrays an event that did not actually happen in real life.

In the case of nearly every single blogger "catch," what is portrayed in the photograph is what actually happened (civilians were killed and their bodies recovered), but there is evidence of the subjects posing for the cameras and instances of photographers playing an active role in this posing. This is not a good thing and the majority of professionals are aware when it is going on and try to avoid it (as subjects behaving as if they are aware of the camera does not make for a good image anyways). And it appears some local wire stringers are not entirely professional on this point, and I think this quote from a professional photographer found in the linked blog is fair and gets straight to the real issue, rather than the pages and pages of blogger pattering and grasping speculation:

I have been working in Lebanon since all this started, and seeing the behavior of many of the Lebanese wire service photographers has been a bit unsettling.

While Hajj has garnered a lot of attention for his doctoring of images digitally, whether guilty or not, I have been witness to the daily practice of directed shots, one case where a group of wire photogs were choreographing the unearthing of bodies, directing emergency workers here and there, asking them to position bodies just so, even remove bodies that have already been put in graves so that they can photograph them in peoples arms. These photographers have come away with powerful shots, that required no manipulation digitally, but instead, manipulation on a human level, and this itself is a bigger ethical problem.

Whatever the case is — lack of training, a personal drive as a photographer to show what is happening to your country in as powerful a way as possible, or all out competitiveness, I think that the onus is on the wire services themselves, because they act as the employer/filter of their photogs work. Standards should be in place or else the rest of us end up paying the price. And I'm not against the idea of local wire photographers, but after seeing it over and over for the past month, I think it is something that is worth addressing. While I walk away from a situation like that, one wire shooter sets up a situation, and the rest of them follow...

Endless reams of blogger BS before they just found the more relevant informed statement from a professional on the ground.

Just for reference:

Semitic is a linguistic term referring to a subdivision of largely Middle Eastern Afro-Asiatic (http://www.answers.com/topic/afro-asiatic-languages) languages (http://www.answers.com/topic/language), the Semitic languages (http://www.answers.com/topic/semitic-languages), as well as their speakers' corresponding cultures (http://www.answers.com/topic/culture), and ethnicities (http://www.answers.com/topic/list-of-ethnic-groups). Although there is much debate about the scope of the word's "racial" use in the context of population genetics (http://www.answers.com/topic/population-genetics) and history, as a linguistic term the language family (http://www.answers.com/topic/language-family) is well-defined to include ancient and modern versions of Amharic (http://www.answers.com/topic/amharic), Arabic (http://www.answers.com/topic/arabic-language), Aramaic (http://www.answers.com/topic/aramaic), Akkadian (http://www.answers.com/topic/akkadian-language), Hebrew (http://www.answers.com/topic/hebrew-language), Maltese (http://www.answers.com/topic/maltese-language), Syriac (http://www.answers.com/topic/syriac), Tigrinya (http://www.answers.com/topic/tigrinya-language), etc.

By sheer numbers, the overwhelming majority of Jews fall into only a handful of communities. The largest ethnically Jewish community, constituting the majority of world Jewry, are the Ashkenazim (http://www.answers.com/topic/ashkenazi) (historically meaning "German (http://www.answers.com/topic/germans)" in Medieval Hebrew (http://www.answers.com/topic/hebrew-language)) who can ultimately be traced back to Jews who migrated from Israel to Italy in the first and second centuries"[1] (http://www.cnn.com/2006/TECH/science/01/12/jewish.descent.ap/index.html)[2] (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?cmd=Retrieve&db=pubmed&dopt=Abstract&list_uids=16404693) and from Italy to southern Germany in the 7th-8th centuries, spreading thereafter to central and eastern Europe (http://www.answers.com/topic/europe). The Sephardim (http://www.answers.com/topic/sephardi-jews) (Hebrew for "Spanish (http://www.answers.com/topic/spanish-people-1)") are those descended from Jews who migrated from the Middle East to the Iberian Peninsula (http://www.answers.com/topic/iberian-peninsula) in the 8th-9th centuries, and scattered since 1492 (http://www.answers.com/topic/1492) throughout North Africa (http://www.answers.com/topic/north-africa), south-eastern Europe, back to the Near (http://www.answers.com/topic/near-east) and Middle East (http://www.answers.com/topic/middle-east), and parts of the Americas (http://www.answers.com/topic/the-americas). Together, Ashkenazim and Sephardim comprise 90-95% of the world's Jewish population — though the Ashkenazim alone constitute around 80% of Jews worldwide...

...
Although the Jewish population was severely reduced after the Arab invasions of the 7th century (http://www.answers.com/topic/7th-century), Jews were always present in Palestine (http://www.answers.com/topic/palestine). Over the centuries following the Crusades (http://www.answers.com/topic/crusade), Jews from around the world began returning in small numbers. Upon arrival, these Jews adopted the customs of the Mizraḥi (http://www.answers.com/topic/mizrahi-jews) and Sephardi (http://www.answers.com/topic/sephardi-jews) communities into which they moved. With Baron von Rothschild (http://www.answers.com/topic/baron-rothschild)'s philanthropic land purchases and subsequent efforts to turn Palestine into a verdant Jewish homeland, and the subsequent rise of Zionism (http://www.answers.com/topic/zionism), a flood of Ashkenazi immigration brought the Jewish population of the region to several hundred thousand, the majority of whom were Ashkenazi (http://www.answers.com/topic/ashkenazi) by the time the State of Israel (http://www.answers.com/topic/israel) was proclaimed.
Following the declaration of the State, a flood of Jewish refugees entered Israel from the Arab world, most of whom were Sephardim and so-called "Arab-Jews" from the Maghreb (http://www.answers.com/topic/maghreb), Yemenite Jews (http://www.answers.com/topic/yemenite-jews), Bukhorim (http://www.answers.com/topic/bukharan-jews), Persian Jews (http://www.answers.com/topic/persian-jews), Iraqi Jews (http://www.answers.com/topic/history-of-the-jews-in-iraq), Kurdish Jews (http://www.answers.com/topic/kurdish-jews), and smaller communities, principally from Libya (http://www.answers.com/topic/libya), Egypt (http://www.answers.com/topic/egypt) and Turkey (http://www.answers.com/topic/turkey-1). More recently, other communities have also arrived including Ethiopian Jews (http://www.answers.com/topic/beta-israel) and Indian Jews (http://www.answers.com/topic/indian-jews). Because of the relative homogeneity of Ashkenazic Jewry, especially by comparison to the diversity of the many smaller communities, over time in Israel, all Jews from Europe came to be called "Ashkenazi" in Israel, regardless of whether they were Ashkenazim (http://www.answers.com/topic/ashkenazi), while Jews from Africa and Asia have come to be called "Sephardi", regardless of whether or not they are actually Sephardim.

For about 9 of the 12 years of school all they learn is American history and then they cram the entire world's history into 3 years.

Corrected above.

So you don't buy the Khazar theory? Because that would obviously make the term anti-semitic a total misnomer, and also, it would make Israelis (who are already mostly atheists) merely culturally Jewish, e.a. not religiously and not ethnically. Anyway, let's not get into that discussion as it's a very long and dull one. :|

I know all about history, WAY more than any other kid in that daft history class I have to sit through at school. I am perfectly capable of pointin out the location of Israel on a map; I even went to the National geography Bee.
Dont insult my intelligence please, thank you.

I knew about the presence of Black Jews, and I knew where they came from, I just hadnt really SEEN THEM in action before, hence i commented. Do you understand now?

DNA studies have proven this theory to be wrong.

The Khazar monarchy may have converted to Judaism, but the majority of the common people didn't follow.

Anyway, just felt that I had to mention this...

This one is funny. But I wouldn't be surprised if he was showing the peace sign and the good folks in the media did a little Photoshop again.

Israel's new widescale offensive in Lebanon is open-ended, a senior government official told AFP this morning. Israeli troops backed by tanks and war planes pushed deep into south Lebanon only moments after the UN Security Council agreed to demand a cessation of hostilities. From psychological point of view, human's sense of humor is, irrespective of age, childish reaction... p-)
