Baghdad, IRAQ: A US Stryker armored vehicles patrols a street in the al-Kazimiah district north of Baghdad 18 August 2006. Shiite pilgrims gathered today in the war torn capital under tight security for the weekend's annual tribute to the revered imam Musa al-Kazim, one year on from Iraq's bloodiest day since the fall of Saddam Hussein. Last year panic gripped Shiites marching in memory of Imam Musa Kazim after mortar shells were fired at the mosque housing his tomb, triggering rumors of suicide bombers in a huge crowd crossing a bridge across the Tigris. More than 965 people -- many of them women and children -- were trampled to death in a stampede or drowned after jumping into the river. AFP PHOTO/KARIM SAHIB

Evidences confiscated after failed attacks in Germany are presented 18 August 2006 at the Federal Crime Office in Wiesbaden, western Germany. German investigators said they suspected that homemade bombs found on two trains in July 2006 were a failed terror attack. It was first thought that the devices packed into cases in trains in the western cities of Dortmund and Koblenz on July 31 were a blackmail attempt, but analysis of the contents has revealed a possible link to Lebanon. High Wycombe, UNITED KINGDOM: A British police search team enters King's Wood, near High Wycombe, in Buckinghamshire, in southern England, 18 August 2006. Police investigating the foiled alleged terror plot involving blowing up US-bound passenger jets found a suitcase late Thursday that contains items which could be used to assemble a bomb, the BBC reported. Police officers have been searching a piece of woodland in High Wycombe, about 57 kilometres (36 miles) from London, and the broadcaster quoted an unnamed police source as saying the suitcase contained "everything you would need to make an improvised device". Baghdad, IRAQ: Iraqi army soldiers man a checkpoint in central Baghdad 18 August 2006.
