Israel has some cool toys. They are gun freaks for sure. I have a Jewish friend that lives in the states here, and he went from one AR 15 two years ago. To a collection of over 21 today with exotics that some of us only wish to have. Hes only 23 years old at that. Hes not a member here but I want to get him to post some pics of what all he has in the gear forum.

Actually most Israelis are the antithesis of gun freaks. Unless it was for business nobody I knew had more than their army issue piece. I knew 1-2 collectors and they only had 3-4 weapons between them - a Luger, Lee-Enfield, and a Garand.

I still don't totaly get how the IWI Negev works. It can be belt fed from the side? but also magazine fed from the bottom?

Are the grenade attachements shown on the Negev still used today?

tnx

The Negev can use the standard "soft assault drum" (a soft nylon bag) which stores 200 rounds of belted 5.56mm ammunition (2.7 kg) or 150 round soft assault drum (2.1 kg). As a redundancy feature, the Negev is also equipped to use Galil detachable box magazines of any capacity. An adapter kit is available for use with NATO STANAG (M16-type) magazines.

Good video! :)

I have a question regarding AK-47`s in IDF use.

I know large amounts were captured after the 6 days war and then more after the Yom Kippur war.

Which units were these AK`s distributed to?

Where did these Egyptian & Syrian AK`s have their origins? Were they produced in the former Soviet union or in other Eastern European nations?

Indeed.

What, if any, advantages does the M16 / M4 offer over the Galil?

Just curious why the IDF made the switch.

They are lighter... that's for sure.

Also I'm not sure if we get them free of charge from U.S surpluses or really cheap.

Either way, it's better for us financialy.

The M-16 is lighter by 2kg, more accurate and is better suited for diffrent attachments on it.

the Galil has the reliability card though and i preffer using a G'lilon over M-16's/4's.

Darth: as far as i know only Shayetet 13 uses the AK's.
