Not the smartest diet, but if you want to lose an insane amoun of weight...

Lollypops. They don't contain ****, and you can eat them all day without getting anything out of it. So that takes care of 'snacking'. In fact, in a way it also takes away some of your hunger. Second, at the same time...train. Whatever you want, as long as it burns calories.

I know it's not healthy....but it sure as hell works. p-)

Go to a triathlete site. Find out what they eat. Eat that. And run your ass off. I mean run like you're Pyle in FMJ, like Lee Ermey is yelling at your ass. And do push ups. There.

Drink water. No soda. Stay off of junkfood. Do lots of running. Pushups before and after running. MOderate weight exercises. Chest/Back/SHoulders/Triceps. If you want tips on exercises for these muscle groups ask me and ill be happy to help you out.
Cook your meat well done. Eat more fish and chicken instead of beef. Salads. Have feta cheese instead of parmessan and stuff like that.
Good luck.

boy do i love running. :) (and don't life too many weights. it's not necessarily a good idea to 'bulk-up' unless you want to look that way (like jack mehoff))

Weight-lifting light weights for more reps/sets is a good way to lose fat and build up muscular endurance, though it won't increase strength as much as heavier weights.

Never heard of devilpups but if its at Camp Pendleton you're gonna be doing a lot of pullups, pushups, situps, dips, mountain climbers and other forms of torture like marinedep mentioned.

Personally I think the Atkins diet is a load of horse****. Just watch what you eat. The best way to lose weight is the combination of strength training and cardiovascular training. As for running, alternate between long endurance runs and interval (sprint) training. I've read that sprint workouts burn fat better than endurance runs.

Lowering weight is good. You dont have to increase reps necessarilly.
BUt just generally cut back on your workouts. Do lots of running. Eat more lean meats.
Lots of small exercises instead of big ones. Pushups instead of bench presses etc. etc.

I agree. When I wrestled this was by far the most effective way to cut weight. Someone also mentioned cutting out the pasta's/breads/etc and that works good to but you really gotta burn calories to lose weight. Hint: wear sweat pants when you run or at least a sweatshirt and shorts.

But sometimes loosing weight is a necessity, like having a date in a week :)

Then were back to the chainsaw's... one way or the other, you will still get the rebound if dieting in an unhealthy way. ;)

Keeping the body healthy is a long term commitment, not something thats solved by alternatively starving and gorging yourself... most overweight people just fail to structure their diet and trigger instinctive hunger responses by not eating often enough... leading to them overeating (the brain acts as if food is not reliably available, and gives signals to eat more than is actually necessary).

The drops and rebounds actually hurt the body in the long run. Doing it a few times is pretty ok, but it really shouldn't be used often.

Going on a starvation diet before something like an enlistement or harsher course of training may actually hurt you more than a pound or two extra.

Good nurition, and lots of exercise... TP is right. If you want to lose weight, eat more... but only nutritious stuff, and exercsie a lot. Aerobic exercise is good, but you need to build muscle too (long term metabolic rate effect). This requires food. Seriously, if you want to lose weight, eat more (no junk) and exercsie like a demon.

Don't wanna sound gay, but yo, nice bod...I was looking thru some Bruce Lee's pic and hmm he's pretty small...I guess I chose a bad idol. Guess I'll use you as an example since we're pretty much the same physically, give or take a few. What I need is to reduce that muscle mass by 15 to 20 pound.

To those who ponder why, it is because I wanna go to my wedding lookin' all nice and fit...not too big and not too small considering those damn dress shirts are a b*#&$ to fit into.

That was pretty funny coming from a guy with The Ambiguously Gay Duo as an avatar. Let me get this straight, you want to lose muscle to please a woman and look more metro****** in your clothes? My advice from my own personal experience is;

1) Drink at least 8 pints (1 gallon) of water every day. Have one of these pints of water before every meal to aid digestion. I can't stress enough the importance of drinking plenty of water every day, it is essential for good weight loss. Start drinking water NOW!

2) As everyone has said, lots of running. Start off simple, say once or twice around the block until you are comfortable with that. Then build up to a mile a day and try to surpass that. Someone from my work is ex-SBS, he runs 14 miles a day - 7 miles to work, then the return journey.

3) Do lots of push ups and sit ups. Slimming down your stomach will give you a visible result of your efforts and will boost your morale. Plus it will prepare you for the inevitable push ups and sit ups in training. At the minute I do 120 sit ups a day, every day. You can always buy one of those sit up frame machines to help you if you think you need one.

4) Cut out the chocolate, cakes, crisps (chips to you US lot) and eat lots of fresh fruit and veg. Cut out all fast/junk food - full stop. Cut out all red meats. If you have a meal, choose the salad side dish over the fries. Eat chicken fillets and fish with plenty of salad. Don't eat mayo and opt for low calorie salad dressings, or none at all.

5) Get a George Foreman grill and cook your chicken in it - makes it even healthier and taste great. You don't need a big grill, the small one will do.

6) Work everything into a daily routine. Make sure you do your required exercise/water consumption amounts EVERY day. If you do a little bit of exercise every day, it is far better than just one or two big blow outs a week. Unless you do it every day, you will start to find excuses not to do one or two big blow outs a week. Don't put yourself in that situation - make it daily.

7) Don't eat ANYTHING after 9pm. Keep drinking your water though.

Stick to these and you will lose weight. These tips are what I follow every day and they have stood me in good stead for many years!

When I got out of college, I weighed around 210. I played football so weights were a big part of my workout regimen, but my endurance was ****. So I got off the weights almost all together and have gone to a more cardio based workout, pyramid style with pushups, situps, pullups, dips, and some curls w/ light weights, takes about 30-40 minutes to do my daily grind. I've dropped from 210 to a lean 190. I also run like I stole something. Usually 3 to 5 miles, three days on, two off. I drink water like it's going out of style. I've been blessed w/ a high metabolism, so I burn calories faster than I can shovel them down my throat. You've got to experiment to find out what works for you. Everyone has a different workout and everyone gets different results. You've just got to stay motivated. I've gotten myself to the point that if I'm watching television and the commericals come one, I'll drop down and knock out pushups until the commerical is over or I'll do flutter kicks if a good song is on and I've got some time. Whatever it takes. Don't skip you workouts. Good luck.

Start by building a good endurance base - build up your training gradually or you'll

a. injure yourelf
b. give up

To burn fat you need to either

a. keep your heart rate between 65 and 70% of your maximum for at least 45 minutes at a time or
b. go to Norway, put a 120lb bergan on your back and ski for about 3 weeks...

yeah i do flutter kicks and hello dollies and leg lifts as well as crunches inbetween commercials. on the IST(initial strength test) we take once a month in the DEP, we have to do a max set of crunches in 2 minutes, and usually there are about 2 minutes worth of commercials when they come on, so that works great. i gotta start working out everything soon and get my ass into gear though. i do pull ups every day (i have a bar in the doorway of my room, so i do them whenever i enter and leave my room) and bicep curls with a bar i have, but i need to start doing a full work out, or at least running everyday. i am down to two months before i ship out as of tomorrow, so i need to start busting my ass.

If your looking to slim down a little, say take a little of that belly fat off, and you also want to build up muscle, is it possible to use both Muscle Building and Fat Loss Supplements in addition to your exercise regime, or is that not adviseable?
