Hello! To introduce myself here: My name is Wim Bijma, 22 yrs old and I'm living in the Netherlands. I found this site on the internet while I was searching for military photo's. I have made a site with photos about the military training I did last year to become sergeant in the Royal Netherlands Air Force. It contains a lot of military pictures, shot during training exercises in the woods etc. You can find them on http://www.home.no/bravo2005

Btw, sorry for my bad english!

You were using C8's with non-detachable carrying handles? Odd.

Diemaco c8 indeed! Nice work shooting it!! For as far as I know the Airforce is single user of the c8 in holland, Army and Navy use diemaco c7...

Nice pictures.
About the dutch army using the c7/c8.
The (airmobile)infantry uses the c7a1(inf recon c8a1), cavalery units are equipped with the c8 or c8a1 (cav recon) this also goes for SF. The rest is issued the c7.

This is my favorite photo. It was taken on the final day of our last training before our graduation. We had been marching through the hills for some hours. The one that is lying on the foreground is me, I had to go there quick because I was the one to put the camera in position. This photo keeps the good memories of that time alive!

But how is the IMO itself? I tought it was a bit soft! I have done a large part of the AMO and that was nothing .. so how was that in the KLu?

The C8's look nice thoug, really nice weapon!

p.s 30 Oktober I am starting with the AMOL (Basic Military Airmoeuvre Course!)

I think it's even softer then the AMO (AMO is Basic Military Training at the Army, IMO is at the Airforce). The difference is that military people for the army are being trained for fighterjobs, military people for the airforce have more technical jobs, they work on F16's or helicopters.. I am sergeant in Logistics, so no heavy jobs... The IMO consists of 5 trainings in the woods, on my site you can see them under <foto's> and then click <beveiligingsbivak>, these photos were shot during 2 different camps. Under <GVA> you will find photos that have been made during so called 'grensverleggende activiteiten' (I don't know how to call it in English...) <eindoefening> contains photos that were made during our final training before our graduation to corporal, which is the end of the IMO. The only training which I don't have photos of is the first one called IP (introduction period)...
I think the IMO is the easiest military training there is in Holland. You can't compare it to Luchtmobiele Brigade or Commando's...

Psychoticweazel,

The blue smurfs erm sorry the MP cadets at the Royal Military Academy use the c8's aswell.

It is obvious that you are still a cadet, concidering your immature approach of your colleagues from the KMAR. I hope that your instructors will succeed in teaching you how the military works, they have a lot of work to do.
You are training to become plt leader, am I right? Than you already know that the way you act towards other branches of teh military ,will affect the way that your platoon will act towards other branches of the military.

Enough said ,I hope you will take this advice from a NCO who became an officer. ( OKM-V )
Good luck at the KMA

And I stand corrected.

I more or less agree with you. It's just that that smurf thing is indoctrinated into us by the older cadets.
And I must say that I think that former NCO's make better officers then the "spijkerbroeken". This for the obvious reasons like: experience, know what moves the men better etc, etc.

And I was training to become an artillery observer not a platoon commander. But I got into a "disagreement" with my captain and was forced to leave the KMA. Currently looking for job oppurtunities in the military outside the Netherlands.
