I am a Lebanese Forces member, a Christian party that used to be the strongest militia in Lebanon and fought Palestinian guerillas, Syrian armies and several Pro-Syrian and Muslim groups who tried to infiltrate our regions.
I read a bit the topics about the war in Lebanon and i sense that you guys should know that the Christians r not minority in Lebanon and are all opposed to Hezbollah and what he did, except few parties who are looking after seats and forgetting their community.
Christians are still powerful in Lebanon and still have tons of light weapons and will defend themselves if assaulted and this showed in the last 2 times Muslim extremists infiltrated into Christian regions.
The police had to stop more than 1000 armed Christian who went down from their houses fully armed when the Danish embassy was attacked ,after the Prophet caricatures scandale, and the demonstrators started damaging churches and residential places in Achrafieh, a pure Christian region next to Beirut.
We are here and will remain refusing to turn Lebanon into an Islamic state.

The Christians in Lebanon are the direct descendents of some of the first Christians in the Holy Land?

Yes, to a certain extent, this is true but there are other Christians living in Lebanon too. The Lebanese Christians citizens are actually descendents of the ancient Canaanites and prefer to be called Phoenicians, these people are direct descendants of the first Christians.
Additionally, there is a large population of Armenian Christians living in Lebanon. They mainly came over during the Genocide by the turks, when the turks under the ottoman empire, marched hundreds of thousands of Armenians into the Syrian desert. The ones that survived either settled in Syria or moved over to Lebanon.
Armenia was also the first nation to officially adopt Christianity (early 4th century).

The Palestinian Christians are direct lineage to whom?
Most Palestinian Christians see themselves as Arab Christians (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arab_Christians), although some, in a similar way to the Lebanese (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lebanon) Maronites (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maronites), reject this label and claim to be descended from people who were present before the coming of the Arabs (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arab).

Questions?
Do you consider yourself a Lebanese? or a Christian first?
With all of the damaged infrastructure, where will the cheap labor come from to re-build? Syria? If so how many do you think will stay behind and start families and create a new community?
What is the birth rate of Christians in comparison with Druze, Shia or Sunni?
When was the last census done? when's the next census?
Wern't the Christian Philange militia responsible for the Sabrah/Shatila massacre of Palestinian Civilian Refugees?
My comment: Until the Lebanese learn stick together, they will continue to be pushed around by the Syrians, Israelis, Americans and Iranians.

As a fellow Christian I pray that God will protect you and your family.
Stay strong; you will eventually prevail.

Dear All,
thank you very much for the warm welcomes...
It is sadly true that as Lebanese Christians, we have been very much oppressed throughout history...and the latest oppression came from Syria during the 15 years of occupation we faced...many comrades were abducted and put in syrian jails (where they are still, to this very day)whereas others were assasinated...yet despite all the hardships , we survived...and we will eventually prevail...
We see ourselves as Lebanese Christians...nothing else...we do speak the arabic language but we are not arabs in the arab nationalism sense of the word...
we beleive in a free, sovereign and independent multiconfessional Lebanon where every religious sect of the official eighteen we have (yes eighteen!!!) has equal rights...
ever since the eruption of the civil war in 1975, we have fought to preserve those values...we fought the palestinian, the syrian and his cronies, we fought the iranian and all those that wanted to come in and annex Lebanon to their cause...we paid very high prices to keep Lebanon clean and out of respect to all those that gave their lives, we will not allow a group like Hezbollah to hijack the country like it is trying to do...
you can check out more of our views on the discussion boards of the official web site, or on the Lebanese Forces blog site www.ouwet.com (http://www.ouwet.com) ... your opinions are most welcome...
I really look forward to participating as constructively as possible in this forum.
Regards
