Who makes or sells the best overall chest rig?

It depends on exactly what your looking for Imho Diamondback and Blackhawk make two of the best.

Eagle industries, SOTECH, Paraclete, High speed gear, Tactical tailor, Esstac, SKD tactical, to name a few. Narrow down your needs/wants. For example, what you intend to use it for. How many mags you wish to carry. What type of mags are you carrying. Do you want the rig to work with a pack or as a stand alone rig. Will you need to drive with the rig on, do you need ballistic protection in the rig. Is the rig compatible with a hydration system. Does it need to float. How much if any additional equipment do you wish to carry. Is colour a critical requirment. Does it need to be modular or a fixed setup. Velcro or fastex closures.

Once you've determined what you need/want then you can better judge which rig is best for you. Not to mention you can get a lot more help online if you've given us some specifics.

When I go back to Iraq, I plan on getting the Specter Gear M-1 MK-3 Modular Chest Carrier.

http://www.spectergear.com/366_medium.jpg

I can place my pouches where I want them and the shoulder straps are very low profile. I can't think of a time where I won't be wearing a flak, so I won't need the bulky padded straps (as seen on the Blackhawk and many other chest rigs) to get in the way of my rifle.

Check it out...

Lifetime warranty too!

USMC Tanker has a good point. If you're wearing an IBA or other protective ballistic vest, super padded straps are a pain in the ass.

My personal suggestions are Tactical Assault Gear (TAG), and S.O.R.D. of Australia. I own some of each of their products, a SORD chest rig, and have tried the TAG ones, and they are very well made and simple. Not a whole lot of extra "crap" on them to get in the way. Craftsmanship is 110% top notch. Great guys to deal with.

I was wondering about those cheap AK, OG, wooden button up type chest rigs you even see SF with... are they any good for their simplicity? And how much can you get one for...? anyone any experience with them?

They are simple... they work for a specific function. They lack in carrying capacity.. big time.

Last time I looked, they could be had for around 15 euro's I believe here... cheap way to see if you like a chestharness, then move on to something that might fit your mission better.

They are simple. I think it's just more about availability or blending in than being superior to domestic products.

Another best thread without giving people the things you are going to use it for. How can something be the best at everything?

I recently discovered myself unsubscribing from MP threads... first time I started to do that... then again it has been the first time in a long while since I found this quality website which covers my interests completely without it being ruined by kids and immature adults all the time... Also run by BTDT's... fancy the link? ;)
