hahaha good old hind , by the way did the Russian Air Force decide whether to produce either Mi-28 or Ka-50 as its replacement.

Totally awesome copter. I've loved these things since I was like 9, when I first started getting interesting in military stuff. It looks so awesome! Totally badass helicopter.p-)

The Mi-28N has been selected as the new Russian replacement for the Hind. Recent Hinds with lower hours on the airframe are being upgraded with Havoc technology (avionics, night capability, stub wings, rotors and engines etc) to improve them while the Havocs slowly enter service.
Have heard the special forces are having some Ka-52s produced in a limited run for "special" tasks.

btw Mi-24 is the only helicopter in the world that hit down jet airplane (Mirage-3 in Iraq afaik)

Yeah, I heard about the Kamovs to. It's said that they have like 10 of them or so operational over in Chechnya, and that they might actually produce like 50 of them or so.
I'm not sure exactly though.

And I remember reading from a reliable source of Soviet hinds shooting down Pakistani F-16s over A-stan. No offence intended toward the falcon, just stating something I read.

Wow, just looked throught this thread, and those gun pods are pretty intense. Are they of Russian origin or from another nation? I got from the Russian that was posted that its the same 4 barreled 12.7mm machine gun in the center and then two 7.62mm machine guns outboard, but is there any additional info?

Lol,What I meant was - For every weapon their is a counter weapon,no matter what its legendary status is,bristling with weapons and armour to defend against rounds up to ~12.7mm.

There is one of these in the Kiev's Open-Air War Museum and for a modest price u can get in the pilot's cockpit and the back seats. The security guy even made the canon move, that was sooo amazing.

Oh Btw, for those who don't know, the production of the Ka-50 for the Russian army officially stated some weeks ago in the far east. The factory is called Progress, it was on the news.
