hehe, both things, let me explain, looks like a mix between both things, the FX-05 folding stocks reminds me of this one...

and the sights over the scope...

so, I think that it's a very interesting mix of elements

This is so true...
Why dont they put their money into border control
Yet they let their people run around like rats (that spread)

Nice Rifle, i think it looks like what the US Army was shooting for in the XM8 program, but less Star Trek.

The cocking handle looks different that the G36's. How about the internal mechanism? Is it the same?

FX-05 is a G36 manufactured under license from HK.
EDIT:
****!!! Now I see it, the cocking mechanism is diferent, the optics systems are as well, and the folding buttstock too. Reminds me of the G-36 we use in "Black".

Nop. As I pointed out on th eother topic of the FX-05. The army has officially said that they are not building the FX-05 under any license from HK, since its not the same rifle, it might only look like it.They developed this rifle on their own, they just took the g36 as a base model.

In that case Wikipedia got it all wrong. According to Wikipedia (EN):
Another future user is the Mexican Army (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Military_of_Mexico), which will be producing it under license as the FX-05 Xiuhcóatl (Nahuatl meaning for Fire serpent).

By the way, since you are from Portugal, some of the scientist who created the FX-05 studied in Portugal for this project.

Isn't Portugal also thinking about choosing a new rifle to replace the G3?

Yes it is. But our programme, which started in 2004, to choose a replacement is with problems. The initial candidates were the G36, M16 and/or M4, C7 and/or a C8, Steyr AUG, [IMI Tavor] TAR 21, MD-2, SAR-80 and/or SAR-21, and finally the F2000.
IMI removed the TAR 21 from the contest stating that the rules were made in benefit of the HK - in which they were. I don't have much doubt that the G36 will replace the G3 - that is, if our politicians have the balls to spend more money in our national defence - since it is already in service with our Marines (the ones currently in Congo are using them) and even with our gendarmerie (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gendarmerie) (Republican National Guard).
The G-36 won the Spanish contest because of the installation of factory in the country. The IMI Tavor proposed the construction of a factory in Portugal for the TAR 21 if it won the contest.
A certain Portuguese forum has a vast topic (http://www.forumdefesa.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1585) about the subject if any one wants more details about this sad story.
Best regards,
