View Full Version : Whats the Greatest Sci-fi-action flick of all time??

In my opnion hands down, head and shoulders above all others, nothing else even comes close in any way shape or form, etc etc etc the single greatest scifi action move of all time was James Camerons "Aliens" with Sigorny Weaver.

Kick ass plot. State of the art special effects, scary ass bugs, oscar nominated performance......

And who could forget: Acid for blood, M41a1 Pulse Rifle with underbarrel grenade launcher, smartgun, "Game over man, Game over!", and the queen bitch of them all: The Alien hive queen.

I saw this move when I found where my parents hid thier grown up movies and this was the first blank tape I poped in the VCR. It started on the scene with the Alien queen and I have never felt anything lived up to that final battle anywhere else in cinema.

Good luck trying to beat Aliens mates but I look forward to anyone brave enough to try!!!!

I beg to differ.

Bladerunner

or

Minority Report

I've never seen Blade Runner (definitely need to though), but I have to say that Minority Report was actually a damn good movie, though its action doesn't come near Aliens.

They are similar. That's why I put them together. Minority Report is actually a sort of Blade Runner-lite. Although the stories are different, the feel of the two movies are very similar.

BTW, is anyone surprised that none of the Matrix movies made it so far?

The Matrix is philosphical fantasy, not science fiction! ;)

sci-fi/fantasy would the 'Bush Adress the Nation' in 2001, 2002 and 2003 - the triology. ;)

Bladerunner, Alien, Aliens, Space Odyssé 2001, 1984, THX1131 and many-many-many more all deserves credit - many of them for being very unique and breaking some kind of bounderies.

Tron is definitely in the running. Another nice piece of 80's sci-fi is The Abyss. Special effects are pretty good for the time it was made.

Blade Runner, Alien/Aliens, Terminator 2, Star Wars: Emipre Strikes Back (from then on it went downhill), The Matrix (if it can be classed as a Sci Fi), and that's about it.

Minority Report is a good story, but is fundamentally flawed.

Pitch Black (no matter what Herrmannek says), Star wars: Empire Stikes Back, Terminator, Terminator 2, Starship Troopers wasn't bad but then I read the book..., Star trek: First Contact (it has Borg.....)

I think you all are too young to remember Tron! Ha!

I nominate Tron for this reason: All those other movies about aliens and space, etc. were great, but they all went on the same concept. Tron introduced a whole new way to look at computers. A whole 'nother world inside a computer, where programs were like people. Pretty abstract and creative, I think.

Hmmm, this reminds me of some movie. I think it was a trilogy. Now, if I could only remember which one.....

Wow good responses, Im surprised I didnt think of some of the ones you mentioned.

I really liked predator and Starship troopers was pretty good but a bit to cheesy if you know what I mean....

Terminator 2. Now I didnt think of that one and that movie absolutely rocked. Im gonna go buy that on DVD right now...

I never really liked Tron all that much. It was cool in its day but I wouldnt ever pay to see it again. I would watch it if it came on network TV though.

Aliens on the other hand....is there anyone here who would not pay to go see that if it were re-released in the theatre?? Oh my god they need to release that sucker again. I mean, they released Alien and it was very popular. Why not release Aliens for the love of god. It was so much cooler but maybe slightly less scary than Alien 1.

Anyway, thanks for the reponses. I saw some listed that I have watched yet like "They Live". I have seen that at the movie rentals but never rented it. Now I will. Thanx....

The Best Quotes from Aliens:

"Come on you BITCH!!!"

"Game over man, game over"

"You know Burke, I dont know which species is worse, us or them. You dont see them ****ing eachother over for a god damned percentage do you?"

"Drop your linen and start your grinned. Found 'em"

"The cut the power!! How'd they cut the power man thier animals!!???"

And my favorite of all time is:

Hudson: "Hey Vasquez have you ever been mistaken for a man?? Vasquez: "No, have you".

Oh yeah I almost forgot yet another kick ass quote:

Ripley:"I say we take off and nuke it from orbit. Its the only way to be sure we kill them all"
Burke:"Waite just a minute, this place has a substantial dollar value to it. Lets not make snap judgements. This is clearly an important species and we dont have the right to arbitarily exterminate them"
Vasquez: "Yeah watch us"
Hudson:"Hey maybe you havnt been keeping up on current events but we just got our asses kicked pal!!!"
