there have been 308,000 new jobs reported from last month under bush. We have aslo had the biggest quarter economy growth in 20 years and the unemployemnt average is lower than it was in the 70s, 80s, and 90s. I guess cutting taxes doesnt work huh? Lets vote for kerry and screw it all up. Any political party that hopes the economy fails and the war on terror fails isnt gonna be my party.

SOME of these jobs are from the supermarket strike (perhaps 30,000-50,000).

ratamacue, you are one of the worse liberals i know. :) i think the point is that this announcement of MORE jobs is bad news for democrats and good news for republicans. it's a little more broad than that, though: bad news for america is good news for democrats.

What's Bush doing against terrorists? He's cutting off heads of the dragon that only grow back somewhere else. Second, the whole Iraq bussiness had nothing to do with the war on terror in the first place.
Second... the PEOPLE of the world are on a good way to hate you more and more. Most of the governments are still 'acting nice' but that's just diplomacy. Fact is that by starting the war in Iraq for....dubious reason he basically confirmed lots of people's thoughts that 'the US does whatever they want in their interest'. In case you haven't noticed, the US has lost a lot of credibility in the eyes of a lot of people lately...

this goes back to the arguement about the war in iraq, the view of most people around the world (increasingly including americans) is that it aggrevated the problem of terrorism regardless of the Saddam Hussein issue. But then I'm sure the people that do think the war in Iraq was against terrorism are much better educated and infinately more intelligent then the rest of us.

The unemployment rate —- measured through a different survey of households - inched up to 5.7 percent from 5.6 percent in February, as the household survey recorded a slight decline of 3,000 jobs against a 179,000 increase in the civilian labor force. The employment to population ratio declined slightly from 62.2 percent to 62.1 percent.
The Labor Department also revised upwards its estimate of jobs added in January and February to 205,000, almost double its previous estimate of 118,000.
The revisions pushed the average job growth in the first quarter to 171,000 per month, the most vigorous rate of expansion since the second quarter of 2000, shortly after the bursting of the Internet-fuelled stock market bubble.

As I said before, the February numbers also went up (Jan. too it seems) and it is the greatest job monthly growth since Clinton's economic slowdown in April of 2000.
Bad, bad news for Democrats. Good news for the country.

but it takes a while to do one 9/11 was about 10 years in the making.
That is debatable, whether or not it was terrorism. Even if it was an attack, obviously it was not an attack of huge magnitude, as it was quickly quelled.
My point is, Bush has improved the readiness of our nation to combat terrorism. The restructuring of intelligence assets like the CIA and FBI, all the way to the local law enforcement agencies cracking down on terrorism and preventing another attack on our country.
Ask yourselves one question, where would we be if 9/11 happened during Clinton's term? Personally, I'm glad we will never find out for sure.

because the US president effects all our lives, if we suffer from new terrorism because of an american president we can't vote him out. Enough americans on this board had something to say about the socialists getting elected in Spain, it goes both ways.

What? If you suffer from new terrorism it's not GWB's fault. Stop trying to blame your problems on us.

terrorism is something that incites terror in the population, people in the US and other countries were worried people were terrified to open their mail, and postal workers would panic when they saw sand leaking from a parcel.
My point is, Bush has improved the readiness of our nation to combat terrorism. The restructuring of intelligence assets like the CIA and FBI, all the way to the local law enforcement agencies cracking down on terrorism and preventing another attack on our country.
Yes, but those are the obvious things that even an incompetent administration could do. The question that american media and the rest of the world's media are asking is that the war on terrorism was necessary/obvious would of happened with the most centrist president, but did the war in Iraq aggrevate the situation?
Sure Saddam was a pain in the arse and we were going to get rid of him sooner or later but it was not necessary to have the war, there was no immidiate threat being posed, the war in Iraq was the right thing at the wrong time because no Osama and his friends can say "see we told you this was a war against Islam not a war against us, come join our jihad!"
Now maybe the Bush administration is trying to be clever, because if they had waited until after the war on terror had finished to deal with Iraq, anti-american terrorism might have flared up again. So killing two birds with one stone. But I think that wasn't the case, they would have pointed that out when the accusations of an Iraq fixation surfaced recently.

I have actually seen a program that was following GWB around the country when he was running for president, he did come across as a nice guy and an decent guy, but in europe we expect our leaders to be very skilled politicians, as much as people may bash Blair in the UK, you have to respect him, he became PM after a comparetively very short amount of time in parliament, 14 years, if you've ever seen Blair in Parliament you will understand why we take a dim view of dubya and his "law qualifications". Even Chirac has been in the french parliament for 40 odd years, even creating his own party and leading them to success. We expect leaders to earn their position, not buy it.

Well if you are offended, it's only because I was mimicking your response.
I'm not talking as a Brit when I say the choice of US president effects us, I'm talking as a non-american. There's no denying the president of the US is the most powerful man in the world, his decision have an effect on everyone not just americans, if he tinkers with the economy and f*cks up we all suffer, just like the problems in Japan had a global effect. If the president has a particular dislike for France, the whole bloody country follows suit, and boycotts french products. We don't care if he's liberal or conservative, we just would prefer someone who knows what he's doing. The only reason John Kerry is favoured is because he has more experience, stupidly enough in the US that works against him because you can go back over his politcal carreer and pick and mix the bits where he's changed, but everyone does that, even dubya, just his weren't recorded.

So you made this thread just to post a fact, nothing else? I wonder why I doubt that...
From what I see, yes, yes he is
but it is hard to see with your head in your ass.
sorry couldn't help myself
What?! Bring my own beer? Geez, talk about 'American hospitality'...
;)
What, you actually want Budweiser!?
Well no...but don't they have foreign beer in the US that Beowulf could have bought for me? :P

Americans don't drink anything foreign. Foreign people are all pinko commie liberals, so we refuse to support them. :P
Anyway...
And that's why Heineken is so popular in the US? ;)

Stop speaking lies, commie.
Seriously though, we have some good beer in the US, it's just that most of it is from local microbreweries or are ales. Sam Adams, Fat Tire, Laughing Lab, those are all pretty good.

I wonder if we import Carlsberg? Prolly not.
We have Shiner Bock..born and brewed in Texas, thats pretty good. Fat Tire is good, I like Sam Adams' line as well.
Course there's always Keystone (let's get stoned), Milwaukee Best (Milw. Beast), and Natural Lite (Nasty Lite) if you wanna party like a college student. woot
you must import carlsberg, I'm sure even Pilsner Urqwell is imported to america in some quantity.

Thanks for saving our.....neutral....ass in WWI. :P

I just had some Pilsner urquell night before last. It's popular enough to be on tap.
@Haiw, you can find just about anything here if you look hard enough.

Since the original post was put in the humor-section and didn't contain a link I took it for what it is. A nice joke.

it's actually an 'off-topic' topic because it's not related to international politics.

1st...Bush isn't strong against terrorists
2nd..the only thing Bush is strong at is making your country more and more hated on a global scale... which is not exactely a way to prevent terrorism.
bush isn't strong against terrorists? http://www.sharkyforums.com/ubb/confused.gif
the world hates us? how about the Islamic terrorists? what about them? (oh, and you can't forget france, germany, and russia)
By golly, we have an Alan Greenspan on the forum! Quick, someone call up NYU because this guy will blow the economic adviser away! Show me facts, opinions don't mean anything.
And concerning terrorism: Sitting around with our thumbs in our asses...or your intern's for that matter...will not accomplish anything.
there have been 308,000 new jobs reported from last month under bush. We have aslo had the biggest quarter economy growth in 20 years and the unemployemnt average is lower than it was in the 70s, 80s, and 90s.

You better watch what your f***ing saying, lad. Trust u to start the **** up again.
I haven't insulted u or anyone else personally, only your President. I stopped, because it was only going to lead to a flame war.
I said u could take the piss out of Blair (I and many others hate him just as much). But u had to didn't u? Hmm? Little comments (or words) like that can lead to a lot of ****.
Like the word 'Crusade'. I'll leave it at that, as I'm sure some of u wouldn't like it.
honestly im not even sure what you too where arguing about i just know he said something about u havving your head in your ass and i thought the comment just worked.
sorry i was in a "funny" mood at the time.
