A New Close Combat Game (www.closecombat.com) Coming Soon!.

Destineer Studios has announced the next two Close Combat games.
The first is Close Combat: First to Fight, a team-based first person shooter created under the direction of Marines freshly returned from Iraq and Afghanistan. Players will lead a team of four through intense, realistic urban combat. First to Fight is being made as a training simulation at the request of the United States Marine Corp, but will be available to consumers later this year for the the Mac, PC, and XBox.
The second, Close Combat: Red Phoenix, is a real time strategy game loosely based on the best-selling novel by Larry Bond. You'll take command of a reinforced rifle platoon of U.S. Marines or South Korean soldiers, fighting against a North Korean invasion. The game is set in 2006 but will be released in 2005. No mention of what platforms it will be released on.
There's no exact release date and as yet no mention of system requirements, but we'll be keeping up with these two games. Check the link below for more information.

The graphics look nice, but I guess we'll see how the game is soon
Already heard about this, but can't say I'm overly enthusiastic; it's just a totally new game which they gave 'the Name of RTS Names' to make marketting a little easier.

yes, Close combat 3 was the last good game of the series, that game ROCKED, played both sides through on hardest many many times.....
Does sound like a marketing ploy to me, another kick in the balls to a once great series
Close Combat 5 was great too, but the 2nd game is still king.

A Bridge too far is the best in CC series for me too. It's good to se Atomic Games back in action. I hope Talonsoft will follow too.

I loved CC5, and it's still my favorite RTS to this day. Haven't played any of the other games in the series though. :|
We'll see how this game turns out with its setting departed from WW2.

Agree with that CC3 was the last good game in the series. Donīt know how
they managed to actually make the graphics even worse with the 4 and 5,
usually they become better with new games. I just loved CC3 Vietnam, donīt
know how many hours I spent on that game back in uhm -99 or 2000 I think
it was.

Yep, CC3 had a continuation war mod too.
I played it quite alot as well back in the day, uhm, a few years ago...
CC4 (that battle of the bulge thing) was playable, but I think a bridge too far really brought the good stuff with it.

You should get Close Combat 2 A Bridge Too Far. It's definately the best in the series. And I don't just say that because it plays in the Netherlands. p-)
Besides, why are some of you yapping about CC5? CC5 was good, at least as good as CC3. I agree CC4 was the worst in the series, but CC5 was a good game.

I have actually not played CC5  Must download it immediately and
test it. Damn that Dutch humour if it turns out to be a bad game after all.
But it looks like CC4 which was crap, so I assumed that CC5 was it as well.
Well the main problem with CC4 was that you couldn't pick your own units... they fixed that in CC5.

I really oughta try to install CC5 again...too bad I lost the CD during my move. I'll have to see if I can find a torrent for it somewhere.

A game based around the recent Iraqi war would be interesting.

A game based around the recent Iraqi war would be interesting.
But it would definatly upset many people, namely those who lost someone in the War......

They already made one, based on the CC5 engine. It wasn't made by Atomic though and it was the worst piece of crap ever.

I really dont think that just because it is based around the war that people would be upset.

CC 2 was the best especially when you played alies against axis on hardest level and you had to fight tanks with nades :-) and there were polish soldiers of course !!! CC3 and later had a good option that your soldiers were able to pickupe e weapons when runned out of ammo :-)

Yeah, I really missed the possibility to scavenge weapons when playing CC2 again lately. :(

To me Russian front was the best of the 5. The campaign was jsut great, so were the maps and the sounds. CC2 on the other hand had some great vids which introduced everything... CC4 sucked and 5 was good but it lost somme effects such as the smoke around a shooting tank !
