Nice photos thanks! does the Romanian AKs use the same 7.62 as all the others or does it use a NATO round?

The romanian version of the ak47 uses 7.62x39 caliber.

Yes, once again, thanks for sharing them!
Does the Romanian Army have any tanks in A-Stan of Iraq?

Decebalus

Well, they have the TR-85, a heavily modified version of the T55. I doubt they have any deployed in Iraq or Afghanistan since their main mission is support.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TR-85

I believe the TR-85 M2 carries a 105 mm gun. Ill try to get some pics of it.
Some pictures of the tank from tanknet forum

alright, thanks for that info. I read a few months ago that Romania purchased some F16 jets from Israel, is that correct?

Decebalus

Not sure, but I know they have a deal with Isreal to make a new tank. Ill try to get confirmation on the jets.

That TR-85 is gorgeous. Are the Romanians the one who have SF operatives using a heavily moddified version of the AK-47 fitted with forward hand-grip, tactical flashlights and acessory rails?

As far as I know, the SF use a modified version of the ak74 fitted with the hand-grip. Not sure about the flashlight.

A lot of info on this site: http://geocities.com/romanianspecialforces/cercetasi.html#weapons

It`s british but with slight different color shades.

No we have not bought F-16 yet ... and i hope we don`t buy those old POS F-16A ... the way to go is the Grippen and/or F-16C .
Something NEW not to trade 40 years old mig`s to 20 years old f-16.

We don`t have SF we have recconisance troops and paratroopers.

Hypno85 & Decebalus, these Romanian soldiers have the Model-1986
(AKS-74) which is in 5.45x39mm. No, they do not have any in NATO calibers, though ROMTECHNIKA does make NATO caliber weapons for export.
