He was on of the four civillians killed and mutilated in Iraq. He was currently working for Blackwater Security. This tribute was on the Brigade Quartermaster site.
Stephen “Scott” Helvenston
One of the really “Good Guys”, our friend Scott Helvenston, was savagely butchered 31 March along with three other American contractors in Fallujah, Iraq. In a despicable act of brutality, their bodies publicly disgraced by a gang of savage Islamic terrorists. It is a tragic loss for all of us that has brought the reality of Operation Iraqi Freedom closer to home. We pray our Military find these murdering terrorists thugs and deal with them with the most extreme prejudice.
Scott Helvenston was the youngest Navy SEAL in history and then a SEAL Instructor for 12 years. He’s the guy who got Demi Moore in that incredible shape for the movie G.I. Jane. He was a two-time Gold Medal World Pentathlete winner and an incredible athlete. You should remember Scott as the last man standing on the TV show "Combat Missions" with Rudy giving him hell. He was so good, that he beat the beast every time on "Man against the Beast."
Scott called us a month ago saying he was headed for Iraq as a contractor on a private security detail protecting Paul Bremer, the Head of the Coalition Provisional Authority. He needed some special gear for the 90 day trip. As always, he was optimistic and ready to go.
Our relationship has been mutually supportive and we’ve been selling his very popular SEAL Training and Fitness videos for many years. We maintained a close contact, albeit by phone, as we worked together on quite a few idea projects. Scott was a great guy and he will be remembered and missed by the many people he touched in his young life.
We are proud to supply the gear to the truly Good Guys in the fight against terrorism. And we are deeply saddened by the loss of the brave men and women in the ongoing war operations. Our thoughts and prayers go to all of the families of those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice, especially our friend,
Scott Helvenston.
