A couple of months ago I made a "Swedish army instructional cartoons"-post,
here is the Finnish version. All pictures are from a handbook for soldiers, which
can be downloaded on mil.fi so I assume that it´s not any secrets here. Not
as fancy as the Swedish ones, but I guess they work.

The absolute basics which all soldiers is supposed to know.

http://img11.photobucket.com/albums/v33/mustamato/cartoons/1.jpg
Example of how it can be done, with flares, handgrenades, extra ammo etc
easily available. The mine is a anti-personell mine (no, Finland has not signed
the Ottawa treaty).

http://img11.photobucket.com/albums/v33/mustamato/cartoons/7.jpg
Four basic demands of a firing position. 1.) Good to shoot from (you can
see something). 2.) Good to shoot from (more practically, with the weapon)
3.) Protection 4) Cover too and from the firing position.

A ordinary squad, with a squadleader and three pairs. One pair with a LMG,
the second one with 4 LAW´s and the third with a reserve squad leader

Middle pic, how to carry the weapon and ski if contact with the enemy is expected

http://img11.photobucket.com/albums/v33/mustamato/cartoons/2.jpg
Assault with squad, well nr 6 is the safety range to the own artillery barrage,
number 7 is the safety range to the own mortar grenades, at number 10 the
enemy have had its butts kicked.

http://img11.photobucket.com/albums/v33/mustamato/cartoons/13.jpg
The use of bayonet

http://img11.photobucket.com/albums/v33/mustamato/cartoons/14.jpg
How to move...

http://img11.photobucket.com/albums/v33/mustamato/cartoons/16.jpg
... and again

http://img11.photobucket.com/albums/v33/mustamato/cartoons/12.jpg
A helicopter 300 meters away passing you, aim 50 meters ahead of it

http://img11.photobucket.com/albums/v33/mustamato/cartoons/6.jpg
The squadleader gives commands using objects in the enviroment as reference,
"left farm 100 (meters), middle hill 300, left house 150"

http://img11.photobucket.com/albums/v33/mustamato/cartoons/10.jpg
"Four fingers left of the building..."

http://img11.photobucket.com/albums/v33/mustamato/cartoons/5.jpg
After the squadleader gives the orders it should take no more than 4 hours
in the summer and 6 hours in the winter for two soldiers (fire pairs or what
ever that is called in english) to dig a basic foxhole, (number 4), and no more than
12 hours to further strengthen and fortify it

http://img11.photobucket.com/albums/v33/mustamato/cartoons/11.jpg
At right, the basic foxhole that should take no more than 4 hours to build

http://img11.photobucket.com/albums/v33/mustamato/cartoons/8.jpg
Squad-vehicles position, a position it can change to, a reserve position, a firing
position and a protective position

A better picture, (from Swedish SoldF 2001)

http://img11.photobucket.com/albums/v33/mustamato/cartoons/soldfvaern.jpg

Over the roof made of wood, there is a layer of stones. These kind of foxholes
were quite common in the northern front during world war, on both sides, and they
are quite effective. It can probably take a direct hit from a 81 mm mortar grenade,
maybe :)

Oh how constructive, are they from your moms ass perhaps? (Oh, how rude  ).

Great instructional cartoons, yet again. I'll have to save these to my hardrive as I did with the Swedish ones....

But, those damn rubber boots are really giving a bad image of the FDF soldier!

http://img11.photobucket.com/albums/v33/mustamato/cartoons/1.jpg

That guy is my worst nightmare, honestly

http://img11.photobucket.com/albums/v33/mustamato/cartoons/16.jpg

Oh good, M/91's. Much better!

More Finnish-type foxholes:

Re-inforced trenches, a simple (with all the forests in northern Europe)
and and a "costs nothing"-solution

Rubber boots rocks. And by the way, that picture you choose with the soldier
in a trench and all, have ordinary m/91 boots there and you´d be asking for:

Or I'd be asking for "trench foot", that really looks damn painful....

Alright, maybe I and the rubber boots can co-exist peacefully. For now.

But those things sure do look like rubber boots, or maybe that guy's just a midget....

Oh, please. Don't be mean. I should add some words in Finnish, maybe. But I only know how to introduce myself, flattering a girl and rude words.
