Ah, so now it starts, the Nam vet syndrom, kind of.
I questioned a couple of the GIs afterwards to get a unit and/or last name so I can notify their unit...
Asshole. Show them some respect instead. That was what the MP´s did.

NcDeuce,
Just wait until you've done your 1st Operational tour, and when you need to blow of some steam, then you'll understand.
Many GI's are pissed at the **** they were told, things like they'll be home as soon as the war is over, only to find themselves there in Iraq for a year, away from the things the hold dear............family.
Me I sympathise with theses GI's,they did their bit, they took the heat,my take is more like some spotty faced ROTC wound them up,and they took offence and fists flew.
The very tone of your post says a lot.
"I questioned a couple of them to get units and names to notify their unit"
Who the hell do you think you are?You give off an attitude kiddo, that whole situation smacks of total arrogance on your behalf. These guys should have been shown respect ,and students you are,not BTDT's ,I'd suggest you cut these guys some slack, and get that superiority complex off your shoulders, because one day you might just find yourself in the same situation as these guys, feeling the need to blow off some steam

Yes, sounds like that, with alcohol involved things happen.
However, not knowing what exactly has happened it's a bit harsh to judge Ncdeuce like that.
Signing up in a professional army does not give a permission to blow off some steam. In fact, soldiers are required to behave, it is a professional code. These GI's were guests at NcDeuce's frat house...and perhaps it was all their fault. Perhaps they became aggressive because they didn't like someones face. If you want respect, behave accordingly.

Work hard, play hard.
Try to imagine what kind of crap storm these young guys been through the last year. You ask the impossible if you ask them to conform from a warzone to a frathouse party within a night.
First you invite them in and then throw them out, I would have trashed the place. You know, just for fun. p-)
Shake it off Deuce. That kind of "stealing" crap is a pain but you did right. You are understandably upset and take it from a "fly off the handle" kind of guy you probably should let this one go. I was at Ole Miss from 1989 until 1993 and I experienced similar situations with guys that I knew and did not know returning from GWI. There were lots of frat boy GI clashes at the college bars in Oxford in the GWI aftermath.
A good high school buddy of mine was in GWI as an MP and while I don't think he saw actual combat he was near it often. He sawa lot ofdead people and took a lot of prisoners. I saw him the summer of 1993 (I think it was that summer) and he was a changed guy. I didn't really recognize him (lot of weight loss) and his personality was different. He beat the living crap out of a dude at a bar in Jackson, TN for really no reason and showed absolutley no remorse. Then, he visited me in Hattiesburg, MS in the summer of 1994 (this date I am sure about b/c he was a cop in Gulfport, MS) and we talked about it. He felt really bad about is and could not explain why he had to do that.
Cut them a little slack. I would be pissed too and I understand that it ain't cool to steal ona frat brother and all, but try to step back and get a little perspective. These guys were in harms way not too long ago.

Hey Nc...I'm thinking about going to AP, how would I get qualified in those schools while still in Senior ROTC? PM if you want too.

I don't think I'm hot stuff because I am in ROTC. I never even mentioned it.
When you have 6 GIs attacking one guy, that is wrong. Granted, the soldiers were probably a buck 50 tops while our guy was 6'4" 245, former LB but the way the man who started the fight initiated the conflict was messed up. He snuck around my bro and hit him, not with his fist but with something in his hand, cut open my bro's head. As soon as this guy hit him, the other 5 GIs sprang out.
You just had to have been there...the City police did not do a thing, they drove by and left. One of the bros had a friend who was an MP and we called him but he was out of town therefore; I called the Military Police on base.
Asshole. Show them some respect instead. That was what the MP´s did.
No type of police unit, military or civilian, showed up. They drove past while a second fight almost broke out. We broke up the fight...eventually...and seperated the groups but the GIs kept running back yelling like a madman that he'd kill us all and that he was a motherfu*king soldier and other babble. Why did you think I wanted to know their name/unit? It is very likely the soldiers will be back again, the pool hall is a pretty popular area.
For some reason after seeing your pictures, i find it hard to believe that you could possibly subdue a well trained soldier. You look about a 140kbs max. These guys just got back from Iraq. There guard is still up. Theres no reason for you to get involved with asking them for their units.

Welcome to a REAL fight were the only honor is in winning. Sounds like they were smart why would a 150 man fight a 245 LB one on one when you got 5 dudes with you?
I am not justifying/condoning their actions, however if wish to pretend that none of your party memebers mouthed off or insitigated you are not a realist. It is very unlikley that they just smacked some dude. They picked one out for a reason, probably one that is a big sucka who thought he could speak his mind w/impunity; judging by your description and reverent talk of him, it is likley. Having been both one of the "party goers" and one of the "GIs" I can tell you this:
Had they really just come home from the box, they are still a little hyped up. The last thing they want to hear from some punk-ass college weinnies (their view) the way it really was, should have been, could have been, why it is wrong what they do, or especialy what some college punk would/will do when he gets his chance. Comments from "Man, I'd just mow them MF's down" to "the war is all about oil" are just begging for an ass kicking.
If the bug dude is okay and hurt nothing more than pride, I'd let it go. The last thing you want is a bunch of pissed off 11 series hunting you, your car and your house down. Your buddy's A-team or not, there are a ****load more 11s on FCKY than even your buddys idolized A team can handle. & Nothing motivates the infantry like a fight for revenge.
They show up call the police and pursue it then.
Again I am not condoning their actions, they certainly sound as if they got way out of line; but I also think you should be realistic in assessment of what happened.

I'm not. I open the door to go outside and I see a dude hit my friend with something, I just reacted and jumped on him. I didn't throw a punch or anything just withstrained the dude.
I was one of the two who talked to the soldiers afterwards. The one who was the biggest hothead was apologizing and telling me that he would love to come back sometime to just hang out. We had a pretty good conversation but he eventually got mad again and that's when he tried to run back while yelling four letter words.

I'm a cadet at the Citadel, and we get the same **** you were probably giving the GI's....civilian kids in frats are always uneasy with military/cadets at parties, and **** always brews b/c of that. We're just trying to have a good time too, not step on any toes...so quit being pussies and giving threats like "i'm gonna have 5th SFG after them", that **** is just hilarious and you sound like a f'in' child. I'm a cadet as well. I am also pledging in my fraternity. We have brothers who are in the military, some who were over the pond and are now back to finish their studies. Tell these guys to grow up and sign up.
We never said, "Hey, we'll have 5th Group on you like white on rice." They probably thought we were a bunch of punk college kids. We just thought of them as drunk hotheads. The fact of the matter is the soldiers probably had no clue as to who they were messing with.
Just because you wear the uniform doesn't mean you can spout off and run around town like you own it. You should know that, as a fellow cadet. You are a gentleman first and foremost.

Funny how almost all of our battalion is either and/or Air Assault and Airborne qualified with a few who wear the Ranger tab...
Go back to airsofting, kid.
I'm not sure that any of those guys were as arrogant or obnoxious as you are. That and get off the sopa box about how great your ROTC unit is. Its just like any other pre-commissioning source. We have lots of people here who AA or AB wings. And alot of them still suck at life. Just because you have alot of pretty things on your uniform, doesn't make you a better person.

First of all, they were probably between the ages of 19-24. Pretty much the same age range as us. They were at the pool hall. They come over to our house and we welcome them and offer them drinks. What do we get? 6 or so pissed off, drunk GIs (trained killers I might add) attacking.
No, I'm not. I'm probably older than you. Maybe your "bro" should watch what he says to a group of drunk GI's who just got back from hell on earth. You obviously have no clue what combat is like if you think they shouldn't have gone off like that. From a previous thread, you were 18-19, no? Maybe the drunk GI should not have rammed his shoulder into one of our guys...knocked stuff down around the house...and use vulgar language towards the ladies...or is that acceptable where you are from?
I haven't seen combat. Have you? I've lived with combat veterans my entire life, this type of behavior is probably more common than I think but I will not accept it. You come into OUR place, we expect you to act like a mature human being. I don't care if you are an O-5 or an E-2, this type of behavior is pitiful.

No, I'm not in Iraq. But I'm no armchair warrior. I'm working towards joining the forces, probably even the Royal Canadian Military College. RCMC, now theres something that takes guts to complete, you'd probably fail even the entrence exam. Part of it is to, as a team, drag a 5 ton loaded water truck across a wet feild, by the way, 5 tons is what it weights unloaded, and theres only about 12 people in the team. And that's after about an hour of other physically demanding, mentally draining work. Like carrying a person who weights at least as much as you through an obsitical course, carrying a boat full of full jerry cans to the waters edge, and paddeling accross the lake, running for kilometers, amoung other things. Think you're up to it? Bull. This is something I'm planning on doing, and I'll do anything to get there. You think you're not an armchair warrior just because your in ROTC? Guess again. You might as well be in boy scouts. Knock off you arrogent, ignorant bull now, you're not impressing anyone. And yes, we all know about your daddy's time as a Ranger. You think that makes you more qualified to talk about combat? Guess what. I doesn't mean jack all. Both my grandfather's fought and were injured in WW2. So what. I've heard the stories, and they certainly aren't pretty. But that means jack. You obviously know nothing of real war, so shut up before you make a fool of yourself.
Yeah, I'm 19, about to turn 20. But, unlike you, I act my age, and then some. Come back when you've got some maturity.

How did my father get thrown in this? How did your grandpappies get thrown in this? I'm going to go run home and dig up all the tabs, patches, and medals my father received...NOT.
That little physical exercise you just mentioned is nothing special, that's typical military. I've breezed the APFT. I started all four years in baseball and football, going to state playoffs numerous times in the most difficult district in TSSAA. That does not mean squat.
It's so easy to type into your keyboard and say how one's not physically able to do something, isn't it?...talk about making a fool out of yourself. ROTC = Boy Scouts? :cantbeli: You haven't met many U.S. Army officers, have you?
BTW, I tried to point out that you spelled arrogant wrong but I guess you totally missed it. Have a nice day.

What in the bloody hell are you talking about, NcDeuce? Are you out to piss everyone on the Forum off? Seriously, you're succeeding.
I don't understand what started this argument, but it's turning into yet another ****-swinging contest between male members of this Forum whose testosterone levels are way too high.
ROTC is a good programme, and your defending it is all well and good, but does it really need to be defended? Most sensible people here know that it turns out good officers. It seems to me that you're not doing it much service right now.
And what's with the quote of redhawk_six? He was describing what it's like at the school he wants to go. What gives you the right to laugh at that? It sounds tough, and more power to him for wanting to get in there.
Your whole post about training means squat to me, because it's just your word. Granted, it's the same for anyone else, but I want to know what gives you the right to belittle someone else just because your training is different and appears to be harder?
You're not doing yourself any credit, really you're not. By the way, I hope that pic you posted isn't indicative of your level of training.
I'm done ranting now.

Yeah, it's the water. It makes us fighters. Don't believe me? Ask my best friend. She's got even more of a temper than I do, and is perhaps the one person I won't pick a fight with, because it would be an out-right brawl.

I briefly scanned over this thread. There’s a hell of a lot of bollocks being written about who has the right to question drunken soldiers. I don’t know what the situation was but an arsehole is an arsehole and war doesn’t consign you the god given right to bash people, rape women or run around a postal office with an AK.
Last of all, I was pissing my pants with laughter with all the kids posting up “I’m training to be a hardcore black op’s ninja fetal eater – you owe me respect!!!!”.
Fascinating, if you want me I’ll be conducting Adagio for strings.

How many are in the ROTC-programme. And out of that, how many actually become an officer?
