In addition, one of the components of Delta Force is called the "Funny Platoon." It consists of only women, and it is the only part of the U.S. special operations community which even accepts them. It is alleged that the unit's members are intended to be deployed alone rather than in groups, since there are some locales where women would arouse less suspicion than men. For this reason, the tactics of its members are said to emphasize the use of disguises and concealable small arms. Understandably, it is not known whether any members of the "Funny Platoon" have been involved in Delta Force operations to date.
I don't know if this has been disscused here before, but does anyone think there is such a "funny" unit, in our special forces woman are openly allowed to join and I was wondering how many other countries do this

(-_-) Hmmm... do you think they need a personal trainer? If so, I can solicit my services to them for a minor fee hehehe.

And you know this how, becasue you read it on an internet site. This is not published fact so don't post it as if it is. Newbies will read something like this and think you know what your talking about when your simply posting rumors you heard on other sites.

Canadian JTF2 allows women into its ranks, but has never had a woman successfully pass the course.

Even where did you get that info? I mean I see people left and right talking bout JTF2 and things that aren't on the site but there is so little information on the unit besides the stuff the DND released.

In the JTF2 video, they say how the men and women of JTF2.......somethign something. and that got me interested. I know some people who are in the forces who know ppl who are members of JTF2. they cant say anything about them but i asked if there were any women and they said how woman can try out but none have successfully completed it. I think it also may say that in the Pugliese book.
P.S.-Next time please take the time to look at my name and spell it correctly. Thanks.

Same here in the Netherlands; officially there's nothing that says women can't try out for SF, but no one has ever tried...

Yeah, in Canada we apparently have removed all restrictions on women trying out including the submarine service.

I know that 14 INT (called the Det) in Northern Ireland allowed women to work along side these guys most of whom (the guys) were SAS.
The women were trained in intel gathering, field work, weapons handling etc.

You might want to check with Beowulf(Moderator), or other forum members who have FIRST HAND INFORMATION regarding this topic.
You might wish to consider doing some basic fact checking on Google before posting incorrect information.
The US Special Operations Command includes:
Psychological Operations
Civil Affairs
These are just two areas of Special Operations women are actively participating in.
It sounds like you are stating as facts some things you read in books or on the internet.

Sounds like a spy job. If such a group exists, they could be called as "delta" in an extensive sense.

Special Forces Operational Detachment Alpha
Special Forces Operational Detachment Bravo
Special Forces Operational Detachment Delta
What makes "Delta" more popular? Could there be an Echo Force or maybe even a Whiskey Force? Or the Greek alphabet...hmm...Omega Force? :cantbeli:

I see where I went wrong, sorry for the misrepsentation I didn't mean for it to seem like I said it, I found the paragragh on a SF website it probably is bs, I was actually trying to ask if there was, is,or ever has been such a unit, I did not mean to sound like a ****, a task in which I have now failed

No worries mate ;)
Good area of interest though.
Considering much of the "war on terror" around the globe in recent years isn't being waged on a traditional battlefield with traditional rules.....it's quite possible, non-traditional combatants(women) are at the sharp end.
On a local note...last November, for the first time, a woman attended Selection.

Not any more. Only Qualified SF operators are allowed to wear the Green Beret.
Females are allowed to serve in some SOF support roles in the Army and Navy. The Air Force allows females to fly in SOF aircraft (but not in direct ground combat roles).
Certain intelligence units units use females.
As far as other countries goI know that the Israeli's, Koreans, and Polish have or still use females.

"You know that 14 Int" - do you really, or have you read a few books?
"called the Det" - Oh yeah?
"allowed" ????????
"most of whom (the guys) were SAS" - Oh yeah?
"field work" - is that digging and hoeing, or strawberry picking?

Maybe I didn't use the right words.
Do I know any people who were in the Det. No.
Did I claim that. No.
Instead of "I know that the ..." I probably should have written "I am aware of a group of people..."
Field work to me is any work done out side the office.

I read somewhere that there are a few women in Canada's JTF2...but from what I read it only said 2. One in logistics, and the other in comms, but hey this doesn't mean there aren't more, or even in other roles. Just my 2 cents. And in tier 2 spec ops we have women in para units.
