Im heading to South Beach on Monday for 3 days..I never been there..Now I know there's tons of great restaraunts and clubs there..but have any of you guys been there and recommend any? or any 'must sees', besides the topless beaches,wile Im there? I hate big clubs...so if anybody knows of any cool little bars there..that would be great too...Any info would be much appreciated:grin::grin: Thanks

Check out the Delano Hotel and go out toward the beach cabanas, but watch out for crazy ivan ... and don't even think about getting rest if you plan on staying at the Clevelander hotel.

Im actually goin there to do a shoot with a photographer, possibly for some of the mags you guys read (NOT the **** ones)p-)

And thanks He219..I heard from another person the Delano was cool..so I'll be sure to check that out

Porcao Steakhouse. http://www.rodizioplace.com/ It's not on South Beach, but right downtown just a hop-skip-jump away. Excellent all-you-can-eat meat buffet, if you don't mind spending $50-60/ person. They brought stuff to my table I had never even heard of, and 99% of was pretty damn good (the chicken hearts were only so-so). They also serve a Portugeuse drink, some greenish, lemon-lime, rather potent margarita-like number. Can't remember the name of it....

I've always gone to the beach proper at 21-2300hrs so I'm not familiar with the daytime activities. At night, there are some nice open-air cafes along the beachfront. Most of the hardcore dance clubs and glitzy fashion stores are on Washington Ave (a block or two back from the beach). Washington Ave is probably the best place to find a "small cozy" bar, though.

If you have ever watched the TV show Miami Ink (I haven't), don't bother visiting their shop. One of my professors spends all his free time at Miami Beach, and he was saying in class that the guys from the show are NEVER in the shop, and the artists working in the shop are some no-names who are never on the show.

I've been to South Beach twice in the 10 months I've lived here. I hate it. Parking is terrible (45 mins of driving around aimlessly to find a spot, at least), alcohol is insanely priced ($6 Bud Lights?! WTF!), and the chicks all have that stuck-up "I look like Shakira/Beyonce/Jessica Simpson and since you don't dress like Sean Paul/Jay-z I'm not even going to acknowledge your existence" feel. Although I guess that last one is kind of a non-issue for you. :) The only good news about parking is the system they have where you can use your debit/credit card to get a little ticket you put in your window that lasts until the wee hours of the morning (0700 or 0900 I think), and it isn't pretty cheap too.

If I go out at all anymore it is to The Morgue (goth club) on Wednesday nights. No cover charge, 2 drinks for $5 (any type of drink!), and, most importantly, multiple pool tables! It's pretty far from the beach though...

Good luck on your photo shoot, hope all goes well. As far as quiet spots, Luna Lounge if it's still open. It was a small , pretty low key spot. Wet willy's I reccomend you stop at. Try one of the slurpee type drinksp-). The beach by ATL ave didn't seem too bad, but it was out of season when I went.
