I've seen about a dozen picture of the D-day landings (the usual ones you see everywhere), some on Omaha and Utah beaches, is there anymore though?

Robert Capa had actually taken alot more pictures than the ones that are distributed today, but in the rush to develop them after the beach was secure, most of the negatives were damaged and unable to be used for printing.

Yes There are only 11 known pictures of the DDAY invasion and they are all from robert capa. He went in on the 1st wave but the guy in the dark room wanted to see the pictures os bad he ruined all but 11. There were originally 100 or so. Sad

the fact that there are around a hundred or so pictures of D day that i will never be able to see is one of the greatest tragedies of my life

it was in a thread here a while back, but this is where it'll take you.
The whole archive may not be up and running yet, but the sample pics have a very nice actual aerial recon shot of the D-Day landings in progress, which I think you can zoom in with your mouse to a limited degree, if I recall correctly. The detail is pretty amazing; you can make out heaps if you study it closely.http://www.evidenceincamera.co.uk/
The story on the BBC about this showed the nerdy librarian type (like me  ) from the Aerial Archives zooming in on the landing craft in the pic; seeing these rare photos finally declassified, I was pretty amazed. He reckoned you could almost make out individual soldiers.
Neat Pictures if you haven't seen 'em before
