View Full Version : Whats the Greatest Sandwhich ever Invented..
In my opinion its the Rueben. Hands down. Man I had one yesterday and Im still thinking about it. Hell, Im making a post in militaryphotos.net about it even though the mods will give me hell for it........
Jewish Rye, hot slow cooked pastrami piled high, thousand islands dressing, mayonaise, salt, pepper, saurkraut, and swiss cheese.
Oh my god. Nothing better in this world.
No no no, the good old Bacon Lettuce Tomato (BLT), while a great classic and deserving of a moniment in Washington, just cant hold the mustard (no pun intended) to the Rueben.
Whoever invented that should be made leader of the free world even if he is dead..........

1) Falafel
2) Lox, creamcheese, tomato, and cucumber on a toasted bagel. Hell, that's actually good enough, you don't even need the lox.

I've had about enough out of you. First you find it necessary to question the eating habits and/or comment on how other people look, and then you have the audacity to tell joe to spend more time with his family.
You have no tact whatsoever. First, I remember seeing a picture of you, and if I remember correctly, you were no male model. If you don't like the way someone looks, tell someone off the forum, or keep it to yourself. Secondly, it's none of your business how Joe (or anyone else on this forum) spends his time. (all the 'flirting' with jack mehoff, CJ, et al; CJ talking to you like someone who is not in a committed relationship, jack mehoff talking about how much ****ography he views, CJ talking about how hot other women are, etc, etc) it sounds like a damn adulterers' message board! I don't care if this is going to get me flamed, but when I hear several married individuals talking to each other the way they are talking to each other, I get a little disgusted.
you married folk better feel ashamed of yourselves. what do you think your husband or wife would think about your conversations if they happened to read up on them? what would you think would be going through their minds??? has it gone so far already that what I said to CJ was an insult? someone (CJ) goes out of his/her way to make a degrading statement to someone else and I can't say something about how i feel about it?
i apologize to maine finn if she felt offended at what I said. but farmgirl, you have no right to tell me how I'm supposed to feel, because I have been in the same situation that maine finn is in now. and I needed someone to tell me what I was doing was wrong and that I needed to correct it. Haiw,
I'm not sure if this was directed to me or not, but I'll answer anyway. Actually, I do understand that people are joking. It's just that the same people need to understand that some things are not funny. It's not funny to make fun of someone's appearance. It's not funny to talk about someone's family in a derogatory manner. I have a good sense of humor, and I'm very clever. Understanding wasn't the problem.... clarification was....
You're right, I'm no male model but I have a family history of poor metabolism. and from what maine finn was describing she sounds like she has the exact same problem that I had. have you ever been fat? I was talking to maine finn as someone who has gone through it before. (btw, if i put a :P it means i'm joking, in case you didn't realize that)
go ahead, tell me how i'm going wrong.
striker... you just don't get it. I don't care what you think about people flirting on the board. I am not married, and I'll flirt with whomever I choose. As for jack or joe's relationships... I think that is for them to worry about. Regardless of what you think, leave family out of it.
The comments that are made on the board are obviously meant to be jokes, and are often "over the top," because of this.
Regarding weight issues. I've battled my with my weight my entire life. Fortunately, in the last few years I have been quite succesful. There isn't anything that you can tell me about when it comes to that. If you have had those issues, then you of all people should understand that it isn't funny to put people down. Support is the answer. Even when you slam people in a joking way, those comments stay with them.
Lastly, slamming someone and then adding a smiley.... doesn't take away the fact that you just slammed them. Think before you post. That's all I'm saying.

Holy Moses! I go away for a day or two and the Milphotos dysfunctional family I have grown to know and love is at each other's throats.....
hey, farmgirl, do you know what this whole situation looks like from a casual observer? it sounds like a damn adulterers' message board!
Do the jokes get a bit racy....a bit...I think you are a big participant yourself....
I don't care if this is going to get me flamed, but when I hear several married individuals talking to each other the way they are talking to each other, I get a little disgusted.
It's called harmless flirting.....when you grow up, you'll understand how important is it to bond with people of the opposite ***.....and not necessarily in a ****** way......opposite *** friendships are inherently different from same *** ones....and quite an important part of your own personal develoment, in my opinion.
you married folk better feel ashamed of yourselves. what do you think your husband or wife would think about your conversations if they happened to read up on them? what would you think would be going through their minds???
Ashamed? for what? For harmless flirting? Grow up..it's how mature male/female relationships work.....there's nothing wrong...I suspect you're just throwing up camoflage to mask your own mistake.
has it gone so far already that what I said to CJ was an insult? someone (CJ) goes out of his/her way to make a degrading statement to someone else and I can't say something about how i feel about it?
Everything has limits.....based on the reponses from a fair number of forum members...it looks like you crossed that limit in this case.
i apologize to maine finn if she felt offended at what I said. but farmgirl, you have no right to tell me how I'm supposed to feel, because I have been in the same situation that maine finn is in now.
If that's true....then what does that say about you? Where was your empathy?
and I needed someone to tell me what I was doing was wrong and that I needed to correct it. You're right, I'm no male model but I have a family history of poor metabolism. and from what maine finn was describing she sounds like she has the exact same problem that I had. have you ever been fat?
I was as a child, now I'm not....and I have the empathy to not make statements like:
think you've had one sandwich too many
I was talking to maine finn as someone who has gone through it before. (btw, if i put a it means i'm joking, in case you didn't realize that)
Certainly didn't sound like it......
go ahead, tell me how i'm going wrong.
I did....I suggest you make amends and chalk it up as life lesson #5631
We learn more from a mistake than a success......so either take it onboard...or don't.....but you have a long history here...much longer than mine...don't ruin it and lose the respect of others...it's an easy fix.
has it gone so far already that what I said to CJ was an insult? someone (CJ) goes out of his/her way to make a degrading statement to someone else and I can't say something about how i feel about it?
But you didn't say how you felt about it did you? You made comments about Joe's family which is completely irrelevant and simply not right.
I don't know Joe other than on these boards, I've never exchanged private messages , emails or phone calls with him, yet I would quite confidently insult him knowing he won't take offense, just that he'd fire back some kind of retort, but the idea of dragging his family into it is completely abhorrent to me.
As for the flirting going on here, that's what happens between men and women whether they're married or not, I've flirted with women in front of their husbands where I work and guess what? Nobody cares, and do you know why? It's a game, nothing more, nothing less.
Also, just so you know, I still think Joe should kick you in the balls.

farmgirl, if CJ chooses to insult people consistently on these fora (and also describe certain other things which i choose not to repeat), I can remind CJ if that is the best thing for him to do with his time.
farmgirl, you've dealt with being overweight? well, so have I. that makes three of us. you know what got me to change how I lived? someone stated the obvious and told me how to correct it. i'm now doing what I think best to help others.

I'm sure there are a lot more than three of us on this board that have dealt with weight issues. Stating the obvious and slamming people are two different things. I have not taken issue with you when you have made statements regarding sugar being bad. I quite agree. I haven't disagreed when you talked about Atkins. I think it's a great way of life.
What I do take issue with is slamming someone to state the obvious. I still remember hurtful comments that were made to me.... supposedly as jokes... when I was a child. That is never funny. Giving advice=good. Making derogatory joking comments is not.

let me make one final statement:
i don't think that my original statement was a slam in any way. i joke around, that's my nature. when people say certain things to me, i usually take them as jokes. however, if someone looked at my picture and said: "OMFG! YOU ARE A TOTAL FATASS! STOP EATING SO MUCH **** AND GET OFF THE F***ING COUCH!". that is a slam. you think what i said was derogatory, so be it. people interpret what others say differently because we are across the screen from each other. that is why i try to use smilies as much as possible to make sure my jokes are taken as jokes, my razzes taken as razzes, my seriousness taken as seriousness, and my questions taken as questions.
i'm finished.

I wasn't just talking about you when I said that it wasn't appropriate to comment on other people's looks. I made this point on another thread yesterday. If I had seen that someone had made that comment to you, I would have defended you as well.
My point is.... those comments are hurtful, and they are never justified.
You must understand that people take things that you say to heart.
That was what I was trying to say.
Play nice.... that goes for everyone....
I'm done too.
gaz: do you really think a reminder is an insult? how exactly did i bring out CJ's family? i specifically asked him whether he was spending his time wisely. what have i said specifically about his family to bring them into the conversation?
The exact quote from you was "CJ, why don't you spend some time with your wife and kids?" followed by some smileys. To me (And presumably anyone else who comprehends English) you're insinuating that Joe doesn't spend time with his wife and kids and is therefore a bad father and husband (Which you compounded by bringing up your problem with flirting).

Seoulstriker,
Here's and idea that might be useful for you on this thread... type something like...
"I apologize if I have offended anyone. That was not my intent."
Last week some members of the forum were out of line on the Haiku thread regarding something I had written, but they apologized, and I have no more heartburn about it. If you are sorry for having offended anyone, just say so, and stop arguing. You aren't going to win.
Stop making excuses.

It's an old phrase over here, with the exception of James I think the only time I've heard an American say it was by Andy Garcia's character in "Things to do in Denver when you're dead" when he says it to a girl.
A more common version in the UK (Withpeople in the 18-30 years old bracket) would be "the dog's bollocks" or "mutt's nuts", though they wouldn't really be applicable to a girl, it's the kind of thing you'd say about a new stereo.

That's pretty much it. For example you think that a movie you just saw was very, very good - "I watched it last night, it was the dogs bollocks."
Please note the inclusion of "the" because if you were to say "I watched it last night, it was dogs bollocks." then that doesn't make sense.
Evan, "bullocks" are young bulls, "bollocks" are ********s, other than that though, you were right. Bollocks on it's own has many uses but is generally bad but the dogs bollocks is good.

Thank you my limey friend.
If you are offended by my use of the term Limey, I apologize. It was written in jest.
Limey doesn't bother me at all. In fact, at another board I post at there was a crusty old American who essentially hated everybody that wasn't him. He used to call me a "Limey Bastard" on a regular basis so just to piss him off I took on the nickname of "The Limey" as a point of pride. One day he suddenly stopped posting without a word so we assumed he was either dead (He'd told us he'd had three heart attacks before) or he was in jail for shooting somebody who'd committed the grave crime of not being him.
