I seem to remember this being available to tourists. Obviously it isn't cheap, but I'd love to do it.

Did any ever see that video of the guy who broke the speed of sound jumping off a helium Balloon from the edge of space, I think it was in the fifties/sixties.

It would be cool to get a ride in a Su-37 flanker.

I bet the view was even better at 123,524 ft when the Mig-25 set the altitude record.

I loved that plane. What an amazing aircraft. I liked them even better than the U-2s we have here in the US, and even the blackbird. They were just so elite.

Now, they're mostly gone, phased out of service. Such a sad ending for an awesome aircraft...

The MiG-25 was capable of exceptional performance, including a maximum speed of Mach 3.0 and a ceiling of 90,000 ft (27,000 m) although a specially modified MIG-25 in 1977 flew to an altitude of 123,524 ft (37,650 m) in 1977. Some believed that the MiG-25 was designed against the SR-71 Blackbird (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SR-71_Blackbird), made to deter, or at least threaten the high altitude, high speed aircraft.

What did they do to the Foxbats poor fuselage(spelling not right at all?)...? Put in 5 more cockpits? :)

Wow, nice vid.
I like very much MiG-25, but this two-seater looks UGLY!
And it remind me F-15.

None really, but I wasnt clear enough in what i said.

I was talking about the glory of their ending. The fact is, the Foxbats didnt last that long, and for such an awesome plane, it really is going out anonomously and far too suddenly.
Now, they are all just disappearing completely, scrapped with none of the recognition they deserve. Nobody is using them the way people continue using certain other military aircraft for longer periods of time. These guys are just being scrapped quockly, and it seems like they've left us too soon and not in a fitting manner.

123,000 ft is like low earth orbit ;-) Any idea how a foxbat with normal aerodynamic surfaces manage such altitudes? or was it specially modified? can any of you guys post pics of the record holding aircraft?

iirc not special modified, just very powerfull engines with draft more then aircraft weight. so it flies more like rocket then like airplane

The Mig's service ceiling of 22-23 km is very impressive and the view looks wonderful from this Russian aircraft but when these aircraft fly up this height it's still not really space and wouldn't even qualify as sub-orbital, Low Earth Orbit is about 1,000 km or 620 miles above the Earth. The lowest and most stable of these orbits around the Earth in LEO begin at about 350 km (220 miles) above the planet.
