Looks like an Accuracy International rifle. Is it the same one as the L96?

G22 - it is a version of the Accuracy Intl. Arctic Warfare Magnum with folding stock.

It is in .300 Winchester Magnum

Armed Forces.

Bund means 'Union' as in Bundesrepublik Deutschland. Wehr means defense as in 'Abwehr', I believe. Combining the two is the 'Joint Defensive Force' of Germany, the Bundeswehr. It comprises the Marine (Navy), Luftwaffe(Airforce) and the Heer (Army).

German viewers; correct me If I'm wrong ...

Yeah you got it right. It basically means 'Uniondefense'. It's their title for the Armed forces (so navy, airforce & army).

Literal translation would be something like 'Defense power'.

Not quite correct. The "Bund" comes not from "Union" in this context, but from "federal", as in "Bundesländer" (federal countries), or "Bundesstaaten" (federal states). So "Bundeswehr" means, its the combined army of the federal states, Germany consits of. Also "wehr" does not necessarily mean "abwehr" (defense) in particular. "Wehr" comes from "sich wehren" (to resist or to fend) which is not quite the same.

So i dont think there is an adequate direct translation of Bundeswehr. Bundeswehr as well as Wehrmacht is just a german synonym of Armed Forces. So i would translate both to "German Armed Forces".
