Hezbollah supporters from across Lebanon were gathering in the Shi'ite Muslim guerrilla group's Beirut stronghold on Friday for a "divine victory" rally over Israel declared by its leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah.
Organizers expected hundreds of thousands of people to attend the event, held in a district crippled by Israel Air Force bombings during the 34-day war. Organizers have not announced whether Nasrallah himself will appear.
Hundreds set out for Lebanon's capital on Thursday from southern Shi'ite villages which bore the brunt of Israel's aerial bombardment.

"However much we lost in terms of martyrs and destruction of houses, we remain steadfast," said Ali Shalghoub, heading north from Qana on a two-day, 100 kilometer trek to Beirut.
Alongside him walked people waving Hezbollah flags and banners and wearing yellow T-shirts bearing the group's slogans. Others drove minibuses and cars.
The Friday evening rally had been expected to coincide with the final withdrawal of Israeli soldiers from southern Lebanon, but Israel Defense Forces Chief of Staff Dan Halutz said on Wednesday there were "a few issues to be wrapped up" before the pullout could be completed.
IDF entered southern Lebanon after Hezbollah guerrillas kidnapped two IDF soldiers in a cross border raid. IDF has been gradually pulling out of the area since a UN-brokered cease fire ended the 34-day conflict between Israel and Hezbollah.
"We came to the suburbs today so we won't be late answering the call of Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah," said Munzir Krayyim, arriving in Beirut a day early from the southern village of Hanawai. "Tonight we will sleep in our car".
Divine victory
Hezbollah has declared it won the war which killed nearly 1,200 people in Lebanon, mostly civilians, and 157 Israelis.
"I call on you all to participate in a victory rally, your victory? in the southern suburb, the suburb of honor, glory, faith, steadfastness and victory for the whole country," Nasrallah said on Hezbollah's Al-Manar Television.
"Let us renew our covenant and declare our joy at the divine victory to the whole world."
Under the terms of the cease fire agreement, United Nations reinforcements and Lebanese army forces are deploying in southern Lebanon to monitor the ceasefire and try to assert the authority of the Beirut government.
But Nasrallah has said his fighters remain on the border with Israel and Hezbollah has dismissed demands that it disarm.
Nasrallah has not appeared in public since a July 12 news conference to announce the capture of the two Israeli soldiers.
Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert declined to say whether the Hezbollah leader will be targeted if he appears at the rally "you think, that if he was, I would tell you - and tell him?" Olmert told Israel's Channel 10 television on Thursday.

I so hope that if he will be there then we will kill him...
