I recently reinstalled Windows (XP) and since doing so I can't seem to get my PC-Based Website Management program (Homestead) to work.

When trying to run the programs .exe file I get the error message:

Unable to start the application. The Microsoft Virtual Machine cannot be found.

Class not registered.

I was wondering if anyone was familiar with this kind of error? I have not tried to reinstall the program (as I have to download it again, and its big), and would like to see if there is anything else I can do before I try that.

hmmm, I downloaded the Sun Java Software from Java.com but it does not seem to have affected anything, the error is still persisting :(.

Maybe you lack or have unregistered activex control( special *.dll files). Check producer site for info, and give us additional info if you have any.

Ive just looked up the Program suppliers website, and after running some checks it still seems to think that my Java VM is unrecognised, and i've been directed to a Java downloaded hosted by the suppliers, will let you know if this fixes things :).

Hey shadow, when you reinstalled windows did you have to bakcup everything or is there a way to keep it all and just reinstall?

I've reinstalled a few times now, and after each reinstall I haven't noticed anythig lost (i.e if you go into the hard drive everything is there, you just have to make new shortcuts etc), I don't format my HD during reinstall though. I would backup a few things you find important though (I have 2 hard drives so I just shift things across).

I managed to get the program working after downloading the Java installer from Homesteads' website, seems to be an old version but as long as it works :).
