The "final solution" needs no introduction, the "88", if you're not aware is a white supremist greeting - the "8" signifying the 8th letter of the alphabet "H". "HH" meaning "Heil Hitler".

VPR's speech is exceptional in its quality and content, for certain... but Harrelson's dogged persistance was also quite excellent. Harrelson's speech was of a completely different character as compared to VPR.

There was also Fremen's proud commentary on his award (he seemed quite pleased), but it was outside of his award thread if memory serves correctly...

We have the best learning results in OECD countries. Only Japan can compete with us. You could make some conclusions about this. Either a) we are the smartest people in the world or b) we have the most advanced education system. It might be a mixture of both too. You can pick your explanation.

Universities being rather small of course don't produce similar amounts world class scientists but I doubt that the results will blanch compared to population and the volume of total university students.

We have a long history with the russians and it has taught us to be cautious. Russians are also very touchy about the The Winter and Continuation wars. Most of them aren't even sorry for the long occupation or crimes against humanity they committed in eastern Europe so it kind of makes many of us a bit angry. The thread lock is because of the loss of control that is growing on this thread. Although I agree that there is a need to call out the more deserving of dumbarses on MP.net... this has simply devolved into a sanctioned flame war.

If some ground rules and limits are agreed to for this thread. I would consider re-opening it.
