View Full Version : How Long In Iraq
Although George Bush has stated that the American Presence will be withdrawn In June/July, it seems impossible with amout of resistance being encountered by the Allies. Not to mention that civil war will most likely follow any type of pull out. So how long do you think America and her allies will keep a military presence in Iraq?

June 30th is when the power transfer occurs. We won't be pulling out (duhhh) at that date.
As long as it takes, regardless as to who wins the election in November, albeit perhaps with the help of the UN if Kerry is elected
Ya, but I just heard that some congresmen predicted that We might be there for up to thirty years! I was just curious what you guys thought. :|

We first went to the Balkans in 1992. We're still there. Iraq is potentially worse. Ideally, countries in the region (not Turkey or Iran though, too sensitive) would take over security in Iraq. It's not perfect, but it would be a step forward. Unfortunately, the Arab League has yet to formulate a coherent policy on Iraq.

That may not prove so far out in the end as a prediction goes.

What other courtries? Jordan? Syria? Lebanon?
The only one large enough if Saudi Arabia, and even then, might need UN/NATO help.
