It's not M82A1.

It's M107.

Actually there are differences between the two rifles. The M107 is an updated version with improvements asked for by the snipers who use them. Nothing really fancy but it's the details that we like to improve upon you know. ;-)

Picatinny rail vs standard scope mount and a claw bi pod?

Yea, like I said nothing special. It also has an attachment on the bottom of the buttstock that acts as a T&E instead of using a b!tch-bag, kind of a third leg/tripod deal. It's actually a very kool addition. The buttstock itself was also redesigned. Also, the back-up iron sights are improved.

Now if the Army would only listen to their snipers and change the M24 we'd be set. Need to get rid of that Leupold scope and adopt the new USMC S&B scope. Not that I don't like Leupold but the current scopes are seriously lacking.

new info i found about these pics, apparantly the army also bought a batch of new m24s for the spotter/sniper, so 1 sniper unit would be both anti-material and anti- personnel. you can see the m24 on the first pic i think
