Would anybody kindly enough to provide info about this rifle such as type of reciever,barrel type...etc

Colt M653 I think. A1 reciever, 14.5inch A1 profile barrel.

Oh Christ, I have absolutely no idea. Never seen one in the flesh...AR-15 carbine, property of US Government? I don't know if they were marked SMG like the XM177's were...

erm.. date of photo may help.

It could possibly be an M16 carbine, M653. Unlikely to be an XM117 because of the flash hider... Big ass flash light (looks improvised/ attached on personally) and Nightscope.

Not sure what exactly you're looking for--the upper was given, the lower doesn't much matter, and the rest is add-on junk; it doesn't come equipped with the PVS4, maglite and butt pad. Are you looking to buy one, or are you just really curious?

If we knew the source of your photo that might help too.
