Are these Marine Snipers? Or just rifleman with customized M16's?

According to the article (http://www.marines.mil/marinelink/mcn2000.nsf/lookupstoryref/2004322195557) that goes along with this image, they're artillery Marines assigned to 1st Battalion, 6th Marines who are undergoing infantry training in Albania. So I doubt that they're Scout/Snipers.

They are M16A4 DMRs (Designated Marksman's Rifle).

Those are SAM-Rs, not M16A4s. The main difference would be the free floating barrel.
