I think part of Hot Lips' problem is that she views these "Dumbarse of the week" threads as sanctioned bullying.

I think these threads serve some purpose, if they are interpreted as a light-hearted wake-up call for the "recipient." But it's a fine line between that and the ones that are viewed in a dark way.

I'm not very keen on some moderating in this forum and I have made it known. I'm still upset about the suspension of kraf001 this week, which I will always say was not deserved. Also, just because Clete is continually banned doesn't mean what he said or did was wrong. Sometimes people just don't get his humor, or they get pissed off because he defies them (which also happened in the case of tsuri, a nice and intelligent member who was suspended), etc...

I don't really like the Dumbarse threads either, but I usually avoid them because for one, hot lips has more balls than I do and thus is more outspoken, and second, it looks as though they are here to stay.

Certain mods like saying "don't stoop to their level," as was the case with kraf, but I find this thread a good example of what they are saying not to do. It is just one more example of hypocrisy.

OK.. I have been on TDY so I didn't open up the second attempt at Dumbarse. I see it managed it's way back without the ground rules I asked for. It is off to a very shaky start as I predicted. First.. the thread itself is basically a puddle of gas with an open invite to any 7th grader with at least 2 hairs on his nuts to bring his best collection of fireworks and shoot them at the latest dumbarse. Although it is a specticle of stupidity.. a spectacle nonetheless. As much as this thread is flammable, the discussions have the potential to widen some peoples perspectives. Unfortunately I don't have the patience to watch you turds bring your personal beefs in here and stink up the frigging whole forum with personal pissing contests.


So, if Ngati doesn't have the ability to regulate the **** talking in here. I will lock it. (yes I will be loading the shotgun with infractions and bannings) I usually leave it up to the thread author to keep his thread going in the direction intended.. but I think I will be watching this one myself to start. What cracks me up, is that if people go back and read the Dumbarse threads the thing that started all this (http://www.militaryphotos.net/forums/showthread.php?t=90867&page=2&highlight=personal+flaming) was that I initially commented on what other users has saying regarding the award only going to people Ngati dealt with....and in turn I suggested that Dumbarse be based on a forum wide nominations and a weekly vote so that the thread wouldn't seem so personal. I thought it a reasonable suggestion and would be in keeping with the rules of the forum... and I did not ask for Dumbarse to be abolished and even conceded that we sometimes agree with the choices. Even so, for some reason Ngati took the suggestion as some threat and started his usual uneccessary personal attacks (http://www.militaryphotos.net/forums/showpost.php?p=1916234&postcount=63) towards other forum members.

If you go back and read (http://www.militaryphotos.net/forums/showthread.php?t=90867&page=5&highlight=personal+flaming), I tried to be as light hearted and fun with my responses to his flames as possible, but come oooooooooon already.

Heck, last week I agreed with Ngati's choice and made no remark about him and still got a flamebait response. Typical.

Now he's sore because last I pointed out that last weeks Dumbarse thread was taking a bad turn and that racial comments were being tossed about and users were once again getting flamed. I posted this at the end of that thread openly.... and of course got the usual sarcastic response (instead of an immediate explaination that something might have been misunderstood). I also had a conversation about with one of the Mods because Clete had recently been suspended along with others for similar remarks and thought that the thread needed to be locked and something said before anyone else got banned/suspended.

It was as hilarious as "No Kev, he's not a Nazi, he's a Slav, and apparently there's a big difference :roll:".

Considering you were flamebaiting the guy you made that statement about for several posts that really came off as an outrageous, flamebaiting, racial remark meant to provoke the guy you said it to. And I wasn't the only one that took it that way. Including the Mod that initially locked the thread and pointed out the discrepencies "Great Observation..... Poor Execution" in your last few remarks..... that is before the observation was retracted.

Of course we all know now the conclusion was retracted because your statements were misunderstood and you didn't actually mean to imply that all Slavs are Nazi's. Fine, but I find it at least ungracious if not ironic that you don't accept Clete's lockerroom banter was misunderstood even though HE at least made a sincere effort to publicly explain the misunderstanding immediately after someone mistook what he said.... and long before a Mod was invovled.

As for you feeling "stalked" :petting: I probably wouldn't have said a thing in this thread this week as a favor to WarPig, if not for the obvious obsessive jabs at me right off the bat.

I know that I am no mod, and there fore have little say about the science behind suspensions and bans, but I think the Dumb Arse Thread is a great way to go about and try to get someone to modify their posts, and teach them a thing or 2 in general.

What gets me, is the way some people get all worked upped about something that is supposed to be funny, and take it to heart. And, they always end up wearing a chip on their shoulder.
