Sadr aide says Iraqis capture coalition soldiers
(Adds more details, background)
BEIRUT, April 7 (*******) - A top aide to the militant Iraqi cleric Moqtada al-Sadr said on Wednesday that his supporters had captured a number of soldiers from the U.S.-led coalition during clashes currently taking place across a large swathe of Iraq.
"Some tribes have captured some occupation forces on the streets," Qays al-Khazali told a news conference in the Shi'ite Muslim holy city of Najaf.
He gave no further details. The news conference was broadcast by Lebanon's al-Manar television station, mouthpiece of the militant Shi'ite Hizbollah group.
There was no immediate comment on the report from the command of U.S.-led forces in Baghdad.
Khazali denounced a U.S. military pledge earlier on Wednesday to destroy Sadr's Mehdi Army militia.
"The Mehdi Army is the Iraqi people and destroying the Iraqi people is a crime," he said.
Sadr's militia has been battling the occupying forces across south and central Iraq since Sunday.

Ya until the tapes come out or units start reporting MIAs then claims like this have **** cred.
On a similar note I remember a student telling me that his tribe in Iraq had captured 56 US troops. This was way back during the invasion. Btw he was Shia. Course that was a pile as well.

If true...they're already dead.
These guys got no appreciation for modern rules of war, ie. PoW treatment.
I read how they executed that poor El Salvador soldier a few days ago...

If he said that to me I'd show him pictures of the columns of thousands of Iraqi POWs, thousands of burnt out vehicles from both wars and pictures of his tribe members lying dead in ditches with 2 in their chest and one in the head. I wonder how proud he'd be then.

If that's true, that's absolutely horrible! They should reataliate with even more horrible acts, I'd totally support that and would even carry them out myself!!! I'm absolutely at a loss of words. May they and their children burn in f*cking hell if that's true. NO MERCY!!!
Try to get a link to a story though, don't want to waste all this passion on nothing.

From what I've read of SerbPVO's posts I doubt that is true.
Also what news agency reports with that much graphic detail. All the reports I've read about him indicated he was shot in combat. Not excecuted with a grenade (which is in itself a rediculous concept)
Look I'm all for seeing justice done and the coalition forces coming out on top but we have to show constraint and commiting worse acts than excecution wouldn't help our position in the least.

You mean Comic Ali? (European name of Bagdad Bob) ;)
comical ali (as a reference to chemical ali)
as for the coalition soldiers claim, the pentagon said they were alll accounted for, but a reporter and his photographer were captured, apparently put to trial and then released.

By the way, Rumsfeld is an arrogant, ignorant explitive who's done horrible things for our nation and our people. I'm not impressed by the monkey man either; shrub, as James would call him. But that's just my personal opinion. Have a good one, and just some thoughts... ;)

This is false propaganda once more. The Salvadorean soldier was killed in action. Never taken prisioner nor executed.
Source: CNN
"La muerte del soldado salvadoreño se produjo en enfrentamientos entre las fuerzas lideradas por el ejército español y partidarios del clérigo chiíta Moqtada al-Sadr, cerca de la ciudad sagrada iraquí de Nayaf, dijeron fuentes médicas."

Chemical Ali of course is different from Baghdad Bob!
But Baghdad Bob was also called Comical Ali in reference to the chemical one ...
And: Rumsfeld for mayor of Falludjah! If he's so tough as he thinks he is, he could handle that job easily ...
